I disagree - West Coast lead for only 10 minutes of the game. That is not deserving of a win to me. IMO (and I will say this again and again) the umpires changed the momentum of the game in West Coasts favour.

While there were specific incidents that I didn't like, I think our poor decision making and execution in defence at the start of the 3rd quarter changed the momentum of the game.

Look at those faux pas in our back line which gave them a couple of goals as an absolute present, and IMO you'll find where the game started to turn. :(

I'm absolutley shattered after today, the great promise that we showed for much of the season has made it all the more harder to swallow.

I totally agree that we we're beaten by a better team but I can't agree with Craigy that we're not in the top two teams in the competition. We've just been unlucky enough to be knocked out by the only team that is better than us in the last two years.

Sydney are overrated, they're very similar to us in 97 and 98. They're a good team who play the finals very well but they are not the best and they're not better than us.

I'd also like to add that they're are some Crows supporters who should be absolutley ashamed of themselves. I'm not sure the name of the road, but in front of the Crows Shed heading towards Frederick Rd one guy walked right in the middle of the road refusing to move, even when cars were forced go around him while beeping. One car stopped behind him and kept beeping their horn until he turned around yelled something and punched the passenger side window. Luckily it didn't break. There was also some pushing and shoving between some Crows fans on Frederick Rd.:thumbsd:

I agree with you about the momentum of the game switching after the 50m penalty against Bock but Jenny count the scoring shots, WC deserved the win.

Like I said before, scoring shots mean diddly squat. My example:

Adelaide by 16 pts. Awarded free kick in goal square (not paid) margin 22 pts. Bassett awarded 50 m penalty (not paid) brings the ball within scoring distance, another possible addition to the score. Free kick awarded to Johncock for a great tackle (holding the ball (not paid) results in the ball being taken away from the WC forward line and no goal is scored by them. And the list goes on and on. Like I said there were more than 6 decisions made or not made today that changed the momentum of the game.

Macca in the beginning of the 3rd quarter, WC were paid a couple of early free kicks that resulted in a goal, thus swinging the momentum their way. Yes we made poor decisions at times (but so did they). Yes we made skill errors (but so did they). WC were ALWAYS going to come out fighting, we knew that... But had those crucial decisions been made, WC would never have got the sniff in the first place.

There are always going to be crappy free kick decisions in every game, some we'll win, some we'll lose. Save you're anger for decisions like the bounce which could of easily being called back but because the umpire was angling for a GF spot he didn't have the guts to do it.

Dont worry, the bounce was on my list too. Resulted in yet another WC goal. I dont mind if they make the wrong decision, as long as they are consistent. They were not consistent today.

That's what I mean. 9.12 after half time could have easily been 14.7 and we would have lost by over 5 goals.

And we might have not hit the post 4 times putting us 4 goals further in front. That sort of pressure is a part of any game. Had the momentum changed purely because of WC then I would not be saying any of this. But IMO the momentum changed as a direct result of poor umpiring decisions.

As long as they consistantly give us free kicks and consistantly don't give them to the oppisistion?

I think this is what annoys/hurts the most...not that WC didnt deserve the wins in either years but the fact that the 2 best teams had to knock the other out.

Just the luck of the draw I guess

What??? As long as they pay the same free kick for the same penalty to BOTH sides I would be happy. But we saw several occasions today where WC were paid free kicks for an infringement (that was there) and that same infringement against them did not incur the same penalty. THAT is what I am talking about.

It is extremely frustrating, especially listening to the Channel 10 cream machine commentate the Swans like they did last night.

Only good outcome for me is Sydney to go back to back

Next best outcome is to ring the boss and extend the holidays till March

Now why would you want to do that :D

That's a bandwagon I won't be jumping on.

I don't hate the Swans - in fact I usually have a soft spot for them - but I don't I could swallow Sydney winning back-to-back flags in years where we've outperformed them both in overall and head-to-head terms.

Can't argue with that, however, we're able to knock off the Eagles. Something Adelaide can't quite do. Quite a love triangle between us, Crows and Eagles. We've been fortunate to avoid the Crows in the finals.

Back to back time!!! :p

Well, I got back on the horse today and got another kick in the guts - thank you CDFC. Why oh why this weekend - I'm feeling sick. I'm emmigrating to Canada!

PS - Well, at least the Sixers beat Wollongong this evening.
sorry mate.....but that's just the way it is.....;) :thumbsu: :)

We got beaten by a very good side. Some very good footballers had good games against us. The umpiring seemed to be a bit biased against us, considering where free kicks were/were not paid, and that bounce!
But hang about, we got done by 10 friggin' points and 6 of those after the bell. If that soft free kick in the last minute of the game had not been paid, Goodwin would have delivered the ball into our forward line, and who knows what might have happened? Our team showed enormous character to come back and almost pull this one out of the fire. We are a seriously good football team with the 22 we had on the park.
To listen to some people talk, you'd think half the team didn't bother to turn up. Someone mentioned that 12 players had poor games. FFS, how come we weren't done by 22 goals? WCE are a good side. They are one of the 2 best sides in the competition. We are the other.
I'm gutted, but I'm still proud of every one of the players that played in the PF. To be narrowly beaten by a fine opponent is no disgrace to anyone.

Did we blow a massive chance or what!

up by 22 points at half time in a home prelim.....

I'm am in tears and now have to go front up at work to a bunch of eagles supporters

well done to the eagles, outplayed us in the 2nd half. But am absolutely devastated.

yes u blew it

Poor match ups....wrong choice of players....reluctance to change players being beaten....stars on the bench after half time...22 pt lead...wind behind...home crowd...week off...goal to WCE judged as touched which wasn't...
Dont look for excuses...beaten by a superior side that had just as much bad luck or poor decisions as the Crows...
The 10 more scoring shots in the end probably made you guys look better than you were

Why not question the efforts of Perrie, Welsh, Goodie, Basset, Thompson, Stevens etc

8 players over 30 and a few more close behind.....more tough times ahead for the Cows

Yeah, thanks for your "constructive" input big daddy.

If you are going to come on our board, please repsect the fact that we are the CROWS not the Cows. We don't mind input from other supporters, but a little respect while you are here would be nice. Bay 13 is for the Cows.

2 days on and i'm still upset, especially with all the media saturation that is already happening, and i will be avoiding the papers over here until friday me thinks :D

I really do hate losing to WC, i think this has really stemmed from living here for 3 years and dealing with all the WC supporters in real life.

But the sun has come and gone since then and will continue to do so.

Bring on 2007

Isn't it funny that this board was very quiet this time last week but as soon as we lost out come the port imbeciles who want to big note themselves. Dumb as a bucket of shrimf but then again what would you expect from the intellectually challenged

Certain posters Stiffy......we should not umbrella them all under a Port tag or Collingwood tag ect.

Otherwise what category do we come under given the "clown" (no disrespect to those clowns out there) who took a swipe at Brogan???

Its a given that it goes for certain fans. Posters like Macca19, *PAF, Arsene Wagner, Malibu etc have come on here from time to time and been objective and have offerend constructive criticism. They are always welcome. However, ever since late staurday afternoon we have had wack jobs like Big daddy, captain wacky and all other bunch of imbeciles that do nothing but try to bait and gloat. Those ****wits can go **** themselves. Its in their genes ;)
