Vince will not play next week and if I had my way Id banish him for a month.
Hes as slow as a wet week in mind and disposal!

Losing Reilly hurt us badly as did the loss of Burton later on.
And if Bock wasnt carrying some sort of injury late in the game Id be surprised....he ran like he'd been shot

The bloke is a baby for god's sake. He will probably make way for Bode, who we're missing dearly, but lay off the third-gamer.

Remember that we had some young ones out there. One passage of play was Griffin to Knights to Van Berlo to Douglas to Porplyzia to Vince. Not much experience there. We're 3-2, going OK.

Might heart is still pumping way too fast.

Felt that the Crows game plan does not work in wet slippery swirly conditions and on a big ground.

Numbers behind the ball with only 2 to 3 tall forward options up in the forward 50 isnt going to work as ball falls to ground and there is no support to maintain possession. It was too easy for Freo to get the ball out. Missed Bode in this situation.

I kept hoping Craigy would change the structure for today and push more players up forward to give the talls some support, but wasn't to be.

We're 3-2 and lost at Subiaco, like most teams. Win against Collingwood and then play a solid game against Brisbane and we're 5-2 and today is forgotten.

"Shattered"? No
"Disappointed"? Yes

All that doesn't matter. We're 3-2 and lost at Subi like most teams? Is that meant to make us happy knowing other teams lose there?

I'm not too sure how any true Crows fan cant be shattered losing to a team that for the 3rd time has beaten us by 1 solitary point, and to have it done in the last 20 seconds just stinks

Vince had a couple of Jericho moments today and boy did he look ordinary. Over the last few weeks he has shown uncanny ability to miss much needed pressure goals. And people say Perrie chokes when the pressure is on

He struggled today, but don't forget he had a virus this week and was lucky to come up. He showed great signs in the last few games and I'm sure he'll bounce back next week if picked to play. Same goes for Porpy, give him another crack and he'll show us something for sure.

Vince needs to straighten up his goal kicking under pressure, but as a young kid I'm not as scathing of it as I would be of a Perrie or a Burton, someone who's been in the system and is conditioned to convert. It's not fair to rip him apart because he's cracked under pressure in his 6th or 7th game, this happens with inexperience. Heck, several players miss under pressure in situations like that. You can have a crack at me for sticking up for the kids too much but think back to the Showdown (and the Sydney game for that matter) when everyone was glowing about both he and Porps. So we've seen some good and bad in the past month, but the good looks pretty promising. :thumbsu:

At one stage in the first half he should have taken an easy uncontested overhead mark but chose to punch for some strange reason. Did he hear footsteps, hmmm it looked like it.

an open message to the umpires today

not the prettiest game, or for that matter the most enjoyable, but a great game

Just on Vince, does he have the tools to succeed at this level? Love the way he throiws his body into the contest but IMO he doesn't have any outstanding tricks to make up for his lack of pace.
Why do you think I've been so skeptical of him?

Pfeiffer IMO must be blooded soon, he is an outstanding young player who ticks a lot of boxes.

A week back in the SANFL won't hurt.

thought he was making massive strides in the last couple of weeks, but probably let himself down today.... everyone entitled to a bad day but with players starting to come back the young blokes really need to command their positions in the team and Vince really let himself down today.....

missed welshy a lot more than i thought we would, perrie was as frustrating as ever....

super effort tho, we'll kill the pies week

A couple more games in the SANFl first, then we'll see what he can do.... but I do agree it has to be soon.

Worst display of umpiring i've seen in a long time. Enjoy your win Fremantle, because it sure as hell isn't deserved.

It's not Fremantle's fault the umpiring was incompetent. However, with 1 point in it, you have to feel that the umpires won the game for Fremantle.

He has not, his role in the team is to kick goals as a small forward and he isn’t doing that. He doesn’t have the leg speed to manoeuvre his way through the pack and into a position to make any sort of impact.

He is going to be a good player when he can get a job as a midfielder but as a small forward he isn’t very effective.

Lets put things in perspective - we have played Sydney at home (we won't play them again this year in the minor round) and Fremantle on their dung hill. Things are looking up provided we capitalise over the next few weeks against Collingwood, Brisbane, Richmond, Carlton and Melbourne.

For all our injury concerns, this group has an enormous amount of heart!

Heheh someone rang up 5aa, said the umpires robbed us. Also said Pavlich is overrated  and pretty much said Adelaide wouldn't want him. Hah some of the callers on 5aa are clowns.

So the drop Douglas movement has lost momentum.

Was a class above quite a few guys out there today. Great game from the kid.

A few holes in this argument, mate. First off, Vince's role hasn't been close to goals in the 3 games he has played this year. He has pushed up the ground as a decoy for Bock and Perrie to lead. Go back and watch a few tapes of the Port and Sydney games. He did it very well. People think he is a "from the square" player like Welsh just because he looks like him. He has fulfulled his role in 2 of the 3 games he has played this year, and had a bad one today.

He's played a lot up the ground, gotten most of his possessions up there. He's only a kid for stuffing heck's sake.

That said, he's played a few games early in the season and with Pfeiffer showing good signs in the SANFL he deserves a game. But what if he comes in and struggles? You all going to rip him to shreds too? I think of Douglas, showed some promise and has settled in nicely in defense. Last week he had a poor game and everyone's on him!! Doesn't mean he can't make it. Everyone tore Knights to shreds because he struggled with his disposal and look at him now, right on the verge of become a pretty special player.

Give them time, see what we get. But for the record, I rate both Vince and Pfeiffer.

another hole in the argument is that we will be lucky to have 22 fit players to pick from next week. We might not have the luxury to drop promising young players after one poor performance because of a knee-jerk reaction on an internet forum

Ahhh here we go again, let's all find a young player to drop after a close loss

Vince was very good last week, he had a bad game, along with 8 other blokes. We lost a close game in Perth. Get over it.

Precisely. When young, they're inconsistent. It's part of the development process. We've seen that he can do good things (past few games) and seen him struggle (freo, and I wonder how much this virus he had affected him). Now lets see if he responds against the pies (if he plays).

Who said anything about dropping him, merely pointing out some obvious flaws. If you are going to be a specialist small forward lacking in pace, you wont to make sure you have some special askills to make up for it.
