I thought they battled well. It was obvious that they were nearly exhausted in that last term - especially Bock, Vince and Porps who all looked like they were in slow motion at various stages. Our skills at times let us down with some of our classiest players like McLeod, Edwards and Goodwin all making skill errors. The conditions and size of Subi did us no favours after a slug fest aginst Sydney last week. There will be some tired bodies after todays game as well. Next week is no certainty...

Who said anything about dropping him, merely pointing out some obvious flaws. If you are going to be a specialist small forward lacking in pace, you wont to make sure you have some special askills to make up for it.

Imo he's better suited to the midfield. He can kick freak goals but hasn't really had opportunities yet, and has great hands that would go great at the clearances.

He's played a lot up the ground, gotten most of his possessions up there. He's only a kid for stuffing heck's sake.

That said, he's played a few games early in the season and with Pfeiffer showing good signs in the SANFL he deserves a game. But what if he comes in and struggles? You all going to rip him to shreds too? I think of Douglas, showed some promise and has settled in nicely in defense. Last week he had a poor game and everyone's on him!! Doesn't mean he can't make it. Everyone tore Knights to shreds because he struggled with his disposal and look at him now, right on the verge of become a pretty special player.

Give them time, see what we get. But for the record, I rate both Vince and Pfeiffer.

As a football player I rate Bernie Vince but I don’t have high expectations for him in his current role. I cannot see him being a super star but more like a good honest player.

We missed Bode.
Really, really, really, really missed Bode.
2 years ago if you'd have told me I'd be saying this, I would have never believed you.
But for the second time in 4 games without him this year, we desperately missed Bode.

Tight games like this is where it pays to have an experienced side. We're unable to field one unfortunately. Our A team would have smashed Freo today, even with the rubbish umpiring.

But yeah, GET WELL SOON CRUSTY!

On another note, Fremantle are the most ****ing ridiculous team ever. It paid off in the end, but what kind of ****ing insane team chips it around with 2 minutes on the clock with scores level? They are immensely lucky they got that point, because that was THE SINGLE STUPIDEST PASSAGE OF PLAY I HAVE EVER SEEN.

I'd rather see him kick the simple goals first when its his turn to do so.

Just because people are saying he had a bad game, it doesn't mean they think he is a dud. FFS stop being so over protective.

He had a bad game. Tough t***ies. Not the first time and won't be the last. Douglas was dropped this week and then came back in for Welsh and played a great game after a stinker last week.

What else is new?! :D

Oh and that Shirley bloke is a dead set dud! :D

I agree. Dud of the highest order. We probably would have won had we blooded a youngster instead of giving a proven hack like him a free game. Why the hell did he punch that ball out at the end there? Pfeiffer would have marked it and ran it down the other end for a goal. :p

That's just stupid. Being sarcastic is one thing, being stupid is another.

Spot on the money there young Stiffmeister. :thumbsu:

My disappointment with Vince today was more on the mental side of things. IMO his decision making was far too slow for AFL level today resulting in poor disposal or no disposal.

He has to lift.

All that doesn't matter. We're 3-2 and lost at Subi like most teams? Is that meant to make us happy knowing other teams lose there?
No , but I am happy with a 3-2 than a 2-3.

I'm not too sure how any true Crows fan cant be shattered losing to a team that for the 3rd time has beaten us by 1 solitary point, and to have it done in the last 20 seconds just stinks

Yeah I'll mention it again... Ive seen 2 of those games now :(

Agree with this. I can't see Vince making at as a midfielder. With Reilly, Thompson, Shirls and Porp lacking genuine pace, we just can't afford to throw another slow small into the rotations. So his best bet to make it is as a small forward. Maybe he needs to concentrate on getting the easy things right rather than the freakish kicks at goal around the body.

Suddenly all my criticism of Vince appears to be on the money.

However despite everyone saying he can’t make it as a midfielder, I actually believe that’s his best shot. He has very good hands in traffic which is a huge requirement of midfielders. He won’t make much of a small forward because he lacks the required acceleration, it’s that simple.

He should be sent back to the SANFL next week, but really what good will it do? What can he prove that he hasn't already? He’s going to have to work extremely hard if he’s to make it at the top level.

Blame the umpires, blame the young and untested, the kid is only just a footballer and will benefit for the experience, with your injuries, that was a good result. You could have been blown away, but your percentage hardly got dented.

Just on Vince, does he have the tools to succeed at this level? Love the way he throiws his body into the contest but IMO he doesn't have any outstanding tricks to make up for his lack of pace.
I've been wondering the same thing. Brent Williams Board?

A mid sized forward, won't be able to hold down a key position, doesn't look a natural crumber. His hands are extemely good however. I'll keep in mind that the role he is playing at the moment - forward flanker - can be an absolute footballers graveyard and will reserve my judgement for a while. But I'm not sure where he fits in to our structure long term.

Van Berlo, Knights and Douglas did. Douglas was outstanding in defence.

Apart from VB whom I now regard as a regular player, I disagree. They played small cameo parts and burnt the ball. It's hard enough to get it but just give it back especially in games like this. It's not a critisism but it's something that comes with experience.

After agreeing with him being left of the side in week 1, I now can also honestly say that we missed him badly, if he was in the vacinity of half of those passes to Perrie there would have been plenty of crumbs for him to make goals out of and we would have won.

I have to agree, Knights needs to work on his kicking, he seems like a young version of Matt Conell.
