Too much serious footy talk, not enough girlfriend comparisons. ;)

I feel we need to address the second part of the question more.

Think it's fairly simple, he's had a few poor weeks in a row, send him to the VFL to get some form and confidence back like we did with Levi. It's not a matter of bashing on the bloke, it's just a fact of football.

my two cents: look to get him to GWS for a late first rounder at years end. we have a surplus of quality ruckmen, and imo hammer is not going to make it as the forward we want him to be. 6th year in the system now, how much more time do we have to give him?

nup, cut our losses and get him.to GWS while they still have picks liquidity

Agreed, but think a second rounder would be our best hope.

Second Rounder + Patton; deal :D

But yeah should be able to command a bit of currency across the league, he is a ruckman that could slip into most sides and play to effect. Gee Collingwood might even be interested

I agree with the concerns about his consistency, but were you really disappointed with Hampson in Round 1?

tbh I was very disappointed. Thought his kicking that night undid all his good work in the air. Since round 1 his marking has also been pathetic.

Not sure what is the most disappointing aspect of his game, but it all adds up. His total inability to give a contest, no skills below the knees, or the fact he is worst kick in club. Take your pick.

This guy has been @ the club 7 years and has not come up to scratch. Time to move on.

Nah, if you are taking contested grabs, splitting packs and creating spillages for the small forwards, you are doing your job as a ruckman/forward.

Wookie attests that his ground work wasn't that bad. He's a big guy and he isn't going to one grab everything at his feet while in traffic. He certainly gives a contest most games though. Surely you made that bit up. He's also not the worst kick at the club.

6 years. He gets the rest of this season to reach 7.

Fairly sure he played Jr Soccer in QLD
Yup. Was a striker IIRC. Went to John Paul College at Daisy Hill.

Edit:

Through his school years Hampson excelled at sport. He was a very good 100m runner who also was successful at the discus and swimming. His English father Tom is an avid soccer fan so it was the round ball game which had appeal to Hampson until 2004.

So he really only touched an AFL ball two years before being drafted. We can certainly excuse his first couple of years in the AFL system and could excuse last year where he showed something but was again injured. I'd say he's been floating in the wilderness for 3 seasons where he probably should have done better.

I guess the club will have to make the call soon when enough is enough, almost 7yrs have been poured into the lad for minimal return at best to date, IMO the experiment has failed, and failed badly, I had high hopes for hammer to take the next step, but I have lost faith in that now, and it won't be long till the club follows suit IMO.

We will just have to agree to disagree. I had been saying for years the Blues will never win a premiership with Bower, Russell, Thornton and Hampson in the team. 3 down, 1 to go.

Hampson was barely ok last week, but watching his game yesterday completely frustrated the you know whats out of me. I can live with the fact that he drops contested marks, but when the drops marks way out on the lead, and the fact that he still has issues kicking the ball to a Carlton player, thats the straw the broke the camels back.

After 7 years in the system I think we're entitled as supporters to see him put in better efforts than that yesterday.

If he cannot get it done against Melbourne next week (providing he plays) he will most likely be shopped around at seasons end.

Not sure he'll get that chance to be honest Big_Luch. If Casboult plays well today, can't see any reason why Casboult wouldn't come in at Hampsons expense.

Saying it where?

seen this time last year as one of the leagues more improved players. unfortunately not putting it together on a consistent basis. seeing as rowe is putting in solid performances, hampson almost seems surplus to requirements... contract up at the end of the year?

Marc Murphy's bird > Megan Gale.

I can forgive Hammer for not pulling down any pack marks, but seeing him spill an uncontested mark on the lead is disgusting. His kicking and general decision making are poor also.

I think him and Rowe need to learn to work with each other. I saw a couple times yesterday where they spoiled each other and having them both constantly in the same packs just draws more defenders. I'd prefer Rowe coming out of the goal square and Hammer a bit further up using his athletic skills to bust a gut at CHF ala Nick Riewoldt.

Still think he offers up more up forward than Warnock but is much worse in the ruck. Wouldn't like to see him dropped. We have an easy month ahead, let him get some confidence up and see where we go. He has too many assets to give up on him.
