Not sure we will need a 2nd ruck against Sydney with Mumford been out unless they have a replacement that I'm currently not aware of. Good opportunity for Hampson or Warnock to come in against Jolly the week after.

Could be a good time to bring in Hammer and smash them in the ruck and take away from their midfield depth. .. This would allow Levi to stay at CHF and continue his good work around the ground. .. Although we'd miss his marks in defence given none of our other ruckman seem to get back and help our defence like Levi does. .. Wonder if this is something the MC thinks about. ..

Not necessary really. Jolly is on his last legs. Kreuzer will smash him, literally and figuratively.

Kreuzer will beat him no doubt but having Hampson in would keep Casboult at CHF instead of conceding tap outs to give Kreuzer a rest like we did against Essendon and Hawthorn.

It would but the one plus having Casboult in the middle of the ground, is that he works back to the defensive 50 to take timely grabs. Though it is possible he was getting back in defence while he was stationed at CHF. Decent work ethic that lad.

Didn't read this. My post wasn't necessary as this reflects it exactly.

Don't stop now Esky!!! :)

What is in it for us, is what we want to know.

Well yeh I'd le to know too...

A package involving J Cameron would be good :p but it wont happen

Time will tell

Like the Kreuz & Bolt combo. Hampson & Warnock are going to have a tough time getting back into the side. And yes, let's get J Cameron!

Dominant Hamster on the weekend. kicked 2.2, took 9 marks. Smashed the poor bastard in the hitouts. Warnock hardly took a centre bounce all match that i saw, played forward and back, but centre bounce duties seemed to mostly be Hammer and Visser. He was noticeably limping at one point. Id suggest hes not 100% fit.

Hampson sure chose a good time to get up and about with Malthouse watching the game.

Interesting that Warnock was stationed forward and back when on the ground? Not sure I remember Warnock being down back ever.

Question is .... was he carrying the injury into the game, did they make a conscious decision to have them swap roles or did he get injured early and he was thrown into the pockets to see if he came right? If Hampson started in the centre with Warnock forward, seems to me they were throwing the keys to Hampson and saying 'here's your chance, show us something' and maybe saying to Warnock 'show us you can play elsewhere'. Warnock kicked a goal and I think I saw it mentioned he took a couple of marks, so I'd be interested in the play situation that occurred in. Contested? Attacking the ball? Using height to his advantage? Did he have defender on him?

I want to see some versatility in these guys. The game has changed.

Warnock was limping at his first contest, and when he took his first mark forward. I think when hammer moved forward, warnock ran to the back. Very few times they were in the forward line together. He got his goal from a lead in the first quarter. - it'll be in the match highlights video - hit him on the chest from a pass from Buckley I think.

I doubt Malthouse wants Hampson to languish in the two's for the rest of the season so I'd imagine they would be giving him the best chance to get back into the side. Warnock's probably was asked to show a bit of versatility but I think Malthouse as an older coach rates players who can play through pain/injuries. Hampson's goal at the end there was pretty good and it will be great if he can do that at senior level to have more tricks up his sleeve. I said before that I wanted Hampson to justify selection with good form and if he continues playing like that I will be happy for him to replace Rowe to give us better options in the ruck for minimal loss up forward.

Rowe hardly set the world on fire last week, and if Hampson puts in another good run on the bye weekend, Rowe might find himself back in the twos.

I'd think after what Rowe has experienced he will better off spending the whole season in the two's with another full preseason before we expect him to be able to really cope with senior footy.

Firstly Hampson needs to be played as a Ruckman ( very good when playing in the ruck) who can rest forward. However full time in the ruck is where Kreuzer plays best. Second ruckman would probably mean Levi loses his spot which I don't want to see happen. Awesome dilemma. I think the best way is to trade Warnock which will get us something decent and pick up a rookie to develop in the 2s for a while and as back up.

I have heard from a very good source he has already signed with GWS,

He already has a contract here for another year. At the end of next year though he is a resricted free agent. He's never going to be our first ruck, a position where he is suited best, except with the NB's. If he does play seniors he'll be stuck out of position at FF, where is isn't real good, and that will sap his confidence. I have no don't he'll look for greener pastures at the end of 2014. So it's best we get something for him this year while he has a contract as we'll get SFA for him if he leaves as a restricted free agent. He's the one to move on for that reason as his future isn't bright here.

This doesn't surprise me. Megan does a lot of her promotional work in Sydney and Hammer is probably frustrated at not being first ruck.

This leaves us light on. All 3 of our rucks are injury prone, now we have 2 and 1 of them can't do much but tap the ball well. This means Kreuzer and Casboult have to make it as a combination or Kreuzer is back to being spare parts while Warnock stands in the centre square. Instead of addressing other needs, we now have to go looking for another ruckman.

Wasn't Giles supposed to be leaving GWS at one stage last year? Maybe it is straight swap, given Giles has kicked 24 goals in 31 games. Not as good a contested mark as Hampson, but knows where the goals are. Might better fit into a combination with Kreuzer. We invested more in Hampson draft pick wise, but that ship has well and truly sailed.

Hampson will be good at GWS. Can see him turning into a midfield leader. With Setanta and Thornton there, some friendships to be renewed. Also won't hurt as much as if he tore it up for Collingwood or another rival.

Doesn't surprise me either ODN. I called that we needed another ruckman over a year ago, and again before the last draft. 3 Ruckman, roughly all the same age and battling for the same position spells future disaster unless we act soon and get our selves an up and comer to develop. Doesn't matter who we keep, as 206 & Kreuzer have both had thier bodies take a hammering and we need someone there to take No.1 in 2-3 years. Levi & Rowe have been doing well with Kreuze as No.1 but Warnock seems to be Plagued by injury and we need somone developing fast. I'd take Giles for Hampson and some compo. He's not that bad, and is still young. But we need to Draft a ruckman soon, just like 4 or 5 other clubs...

Ruckman for ruckman makes little sense. Don't want Giles. Hampson was BOG against him. No thanks.

Giles got 3 Brownlow votes up against McEvoy and again against Zac Smith last year too. Good games and not so good games.

The point was that Hampson would be leaving because he wants to, not because we don't need a third ruckman. Giles kicks goals so could be a good option. We have to replace Hammer whether in the draft or by trade.

That's the way it panned out. Would have kept him if he wanted to stay and if we weren't offered anything decent for him. The fact that he can still get a pick in the top 30 despite many of our supporters thinking he is no good, and despite all of his injuries, is a feather in his cap. Not sure Warnock would have earned much more at this stage.

Fare thee well Hammer. Best of luck. Hope you get a chance to show something.
