Little premature but I definitely agree, there is definitely a spot for him in our best side, even with Warnock fit.

Came back from a sack whack very well too...

3 goals 1 behind
4 marks
10 hitouts
11 disposals

Ive been saying for ages that hes better than many thought. tonight he was a star. video coming but its officially hammertime!

And an assist to T-Bird that he would have kicked.

Massive presence. Just what we all wanted. Well done Hammer.:thumbsu:

It's finally starting to come together! Really proud of his efforts tonight. Kicking for goal has improved significantly and continuing to gain confidence in his hands.

important game from him. gives him and the team confidence to play him forward compared to last year when he was decent in patches but not totally convincing. gives something for opposition coaches and backlines to think about if he can keep doing it.

Also, if he can utilize his speed more he can go to the next level...

Which is the scary thing. Tonight we saw his height and marking and kicking prowess on display and the improvements that he's making. Yet we know he can sprint like a cheeter

I think the other thing that should be mentioned is that the majority of those he dropped were not sitters, they were ones bombed long where he had to battle for position to even get first hands on the ball. I was impressed with the way he read the flight tonight.

Sensational performance from Shaun.

Really made his presence felt when it counted. The versatility of the Kreuzer/Hampson partnership is going to hurt teams this year...

I have taken a couple of bites and will be happy to finish the meal by the end of the year :thumbsu:

Football has changed a lot but he could be unstoppable on the lead like Paul Salmon was

he was good tonight, he just gets in such good positions to take marks. Consistancy is the key and doing it against an average backline might not earn a lot of points but he definitely did things right tonight.

Hammer was awesome tonight...

And his efforts to come back from a Robinson to the happy sack was awesome... I'm sure that Robbo will be facing a full force gale if there was any damage to her private property.

The signs have been there for a while now. He made big strides last year and you could see that the pieces were almost in place. If not for injury, I'd imagine he'd already be considered a good AFL forward.

He showed great signs in the preseason and brought it into the season proper. He will have his ups and downs this season without doubt, but he'll finally shut up his critics and prove his worth.

Hammer is looking the goods. Would help out to have another tall forward along side Waite. I would much rather see Kreuzer stay in the ruck and Hammer stay forward, it just works so much better in our favour. Even when Warnock comes back i think it would be interesting to play all 3.

Still think there is plenty of upside to Hammer. When he stretches his arms towards the ball, there are very few defenders that can get that high on the move. Seeing him take contested marks is a huge plus.

Too early to call, but the signs are promising. Looks like he may be the player we have been hoping he will become. Great start to the season tonight.

Hammer and Kreuze reaching over the tops of the packs to clunk marks were a sure sign of things to come and I think that there are a few opposition coaches who, after seeing that tonight, would be having nightmares about trying to stop them.

Did some great things, but he really dominated when the game was over. He's heading in the right direction, but the "he's arrived" talk might be best saved for when he dominates when the game is in the balance.

Great thing about Hampson is that he always brings the ball to ground. Even without a mark he gives our crumbers excellent opportunities.

Promising signs. Definitely room for all 3 ruckmen at the moment.

I don't think he was "awesome", but he showed a marked improvement from his (admittedly low) base.

We all can see he has the physical attributes to be a beast - was GREAT to see him take a big mark or two, and panic defenders into scragging him.

We are infinitely more dangerous if we have a contested marking 200cm guy deep inside 50 at all times.

I still lost my *&%^ when we went long to Betts or Garlett though. That should never, ever happen whilst Hampson is at FF.

That's what we want. He wont be outmarked (unless the kick really favours his opponent) due to his leg speed, height and his awkwardness if you get what I'm saying. He also has a bit of aggression which is great for at least creating a contest.

Enter Jeffy and Eddie. Exit in a cloud of dust!!!
