What exactly has Higgins done that makes him better than Birch?

On form and performances to date, Higgins is well behind Birchall, but that may not be the case across the life of their respective careers. There's certainly a lot to like about Higgins.

At any rate, the question actually asks who you would prefer for your side, which is the correct determinant for comparing players who fill different onfield roles.

I would like Higgins to get his bounces stat up before rating him higher than Birchall

In other words, how can you rate players based on 15 games or so.

Higgins was on the way to a great 2nd half to the season before doing his elbow.

On the other hand, I havent seen Birchall play. If he is getting compared to Higgins then he must be good.

Higgins has shown plenty in his handful of games. Birchall is vastly improved, but I think we will see Higgins shoot past him this year.

Higgins for me, very classy.

Obviously none of you have seen Birchall play a match. Birch is much better than Higgins I believe. Last year in his first season finished in the Top 10 in the Best and Fairest and for a young kid rarely made any mistakes. The Birch for me.
