I understand what your saying but I wouldn't blame Cosgrove for this. When he was in crazy form, Cricket Australia wouldn't look at him because of his weight issues. This is bullshit policy. I understand that CA needs to keep high fitness standards but plenty of the world's best cricketers have been fat guys. Now Cossy isn't in peak form anymore and we'll just have to go wondering if he ever could have made it at Test level. Disappointing.

It's not the weight issue per se but what it says about Cosgrove's attitude.

I am certain CA put it to him that he needed to drop a few kgs to get a chance at national selection. Part of it was fitness but also part of it was mental attitude; does Cossie really want it bad enough to make the necessary sacrifices and lifestyle decisions?

Clearly Cossie didn't, so CA just shrugged their shoulders and moved on.

Weight of runs should mean more than the weight of Cossie's fat ass.

remember earlier this season when marsh got drunk in south africa and then got dropped by wa? someone should have made a shaun marsh is back! thread then, because benders and bad form is shaun marsh's natural form over his career
Seemed to go ok again tonight

Amazing what he did last night got the Scorchers back in it

If Australia do not win the next 20/20 World Cup there has to be some serious questions asked because clearly we are not picking the form team

As a batsman he's an out n out gun. It's what's between the ears that's the problem. A bloke of his ability should be in the current Australian test side. Has a stack more ability than Ed Cowan but doesn't have any where near the application that Ed has. Hopefully he gets his act together before it's too late.

Agree!! To the comment earlier that he could do a Hussey and have a long back end of a career, chances are enormously slim given Marsh doesn't apply himself the way Hussey did. Hussey was a fitness fanatic and did everything he could off the park to succeed on it. Do people really think Marsh has it in him to apply himself to that level?

No doubting he has supreme talent. There's a test spot there for him if he wants it.

I don't agree that he should be in the Aus T20 team. In the WorldT20 or in any internationals at all, he is not going to have the luxury of batting against Alex Keath type of bowling. He is very choosy about which bowlers he takes risks against, that is why he has never gone that well in international T20s. He doesn't run up against the kind of inexperienced and/or cruddy bowlers he meets with frequently in the domestic scene.

I wouldn't mind if he never played for Aus again, apart from as a fill-in with the one day team. He needs two years of excellent form in more than just T20 to be considered for Australia even as an injury replacement.

Well I think that two years out from an ODI world cup it's worth bringing Marsh back into the fold for limited overs.
Given our batting it's not like we have any options.

I wouldn't mind him in ODIs. I think he's a solid player in that format. Him being a slow starter doesn't hurt the team so much.

can also bat pretty much anywhere from 1-6, still remember that ton he made against the poms batting with the tail.

Talent and potential are dirty words. So far Marsh hasn't done a lot in first class cricket to justify these terms. He was appalling in the test arena as well.

In his last stint, yeah. Showed a fair bit early (as do a lot of players I suppose).

They rushed him back before he was ready, and from there he lost confidence. Shouldn't be a death sentence for his career

didn't he score 99* in a t20 right before being rushed back

Yeah but I think he had played bugger all else.

The non spinning ball that knocked him over from Ashwin at the Adelaide Oval was hilarious, he just looked so out of form.

Another great knock yesterday.
Hopefully this injury isnt to bad.
He could be in the Test team before he knows it.
