Shaving

Well, I just had a wet shave with a mole hair brush & some nice shaving cream. Was the best I've ever had, but I've still got a way to go. Need a better sharper razor.

Dumb question- is there any secret technique as to how often you should wash the shaving cream that builds up on your razor off, or is it just a matter of common sense & doing it whenever you think it needs to be done.

Wow, rod stroker definitely knows his shaving :thumbsu:

+1. Awesome read. My Dad had one of those double edged razors, I reckon I'll look at getting one.

When I was in my early 20s I used to use a cutthroat. Had to concentrate!

TIP: Apply a few drops of shaving oil before shaving, will make a big difference.

Can anyone recommend any good body trimmers for chest hair?

Double Edge are the Bomb!!!

Anyone got a beard where it's thicker in some places, and sparse in a few spots. I have two little spots where the mo meets the corners of the mouth that are still slightly void of whiskers.

And, no I'm not Joe Dirt.

Yeah i got the Joe Dirt patchiness too. Same as you my chin doesn't join with the mo.

:thumbsu: I have been thinking of shaving my head (my fore-head is getting longer by the day), but had no idea how. This video is great, really helpful, and on Monday I'm going to buy one of those razors he's using in the vid. Thanks for posting it up.

Don't do it.

l wouldn't mind getting a old barber cut throat shave do they still do that anymore?

I probably get 2-3 a year just cos I enjoy it. I usually go to the Barber Saloon on Errol St, North Melbourne. There is also a traditional barber on Lygon St, Carlton up near Victoria St. But I can absolutely recommend the chap in North Melbourne, he is an absolute pro. Two thumbs up for the hot towels :thumbsu::thumbsu:

And I think I've seen a proper shaving at Barber on Degraves: http://www.thatsmelbourne.com.au/Shopping/BeautyandWellbeing/HairCare/Pages/1845.aspx

As red+black mentioned, you can probably find some old school barbers who provide the service. I know here in Adelaide there's also male-only grooming salon (Destination for Men, owned by ex-Sydney and St Kilda player Troy Gray) where you can get a barber shop shave, so equivalent places in Melbourne (maybe somewhere like Man What a Fuss) might do it too.

I have recently broken my right arm here in Sydney and so cannot shave. Have enquired about getting a wet shave in barber shops and are being told they are banned. Has become an "occupational work and safety" victim.

Amongst other things...

Hope you've got a supportive missus. :) ;)

Same. They're not even that good. The blades go blunt pretty quickly, and Fook paying $25 odd for a new pack of four! (I haven't resorted to stealing either, but I'll be getting a double edge old school razor, as discussed in this post).

Where can you actually buy a double edged razor?

Would like to physically look at the product before buying, so would rather go to a shop than buy online.

The common razors are everywhere, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen a doubled edged type razor in the shops before, not that I've specifically looked for them though.

Pretty sure places like the Shaver Shop has them
