so it looks like i'll be heading into the mensbiz office either tomorrow or tuesday sometime after uni. i've heard it's pretty easy to miss, has anyone been and if so did you find it easily?

I feed my razor with a new blade before every shave, because simply, the sharper the blade the better the shave. And given that each blade costs peanuts, to me it's a no-brainer. On rare occasions I've used the same blade twice, like if I'm traveling and didn't bring a spare fresh blade, but that is not often.

my thoughts are the exact same.

i mean i only got one or two shaves out of the mach 3 cartridges and they are about 4 dollars a cartridge! :eek:
these things are basically 30 cents each!.....pretty sure i can deal with that for the rest of my life! hehe

the amount of money i will be saving over my lifetime because of this change is outrageous.

Amen brother! I don't know why it's taken me so long to come round. I remember my (late) father (GRHS) using a DE razor and I thought it was a work of art, I loved the thing. But when it was my turn I've gone from philishave to cutthroat to gillette! Silly me.

A silly question about blades but I'll ask it anyway

Do all of the blades allow shaving on both horizontal sides, or does it depend on the type/brand of blade that you buy?

If all of them allow you to shave on both sides, then one blade really equals two, seeing as you just have to flip sides when the first side you've used becomes blunt

It's actually 4 blades: left, right, upside-down left and upside-down right.

Kind of like getting 4 days out of underpants: front, back, inside-out front, inside-out back.

They have a blade on both sides, but its much easier when shaving to do a few strokes then flip the razor and do a few on the other side, then rinse and repeat.

Its only a short street but i used GPS to find that but the building is numbered and its across the street from a gym. You go in the door and there is a old wooden staircase and go up one level and there is a doorbell for each suite. Its definitley not a shop but the young guy that was there is pretty helpful.

Definitely try a soap. I've found that the TOBS soap creates a creamier lather than the Proraso. The razor also glides smoother. I want to order some Tabac soap because everyone online says it's the shit but mensbiz is out of stock and himage doesn't sell it. Looking at all the different creams and soaps online is so addictive!

I tried a Derby blade for the first time today and it cut much better than the Merkur. I could really hear the hairs being sliced. Although for some reason the blade kept getting clogged with cream and I had to give it a really good rinse between strokes. After my shave I had to remove the blade and give it a careful wipe. I'll persist Derby's for a few shaves before moving onto the Astras.
 
How do people rate the blades, I got a sample pack and have used all except the Feather's, might try them today.

Merkur was the first one i used, now being my first de shave it could of been my technique but i was being pretty careful so im not convinced but i ended up with the worst razor burn i have had in ages. I have sensitive skin which may not have helped but im not rushing to use these again.

Astra i thought the blade was good and no rash at but the bottom of the blade has some type of glue to hold it in the packaging. When i wipe it off it still leaves a greasy residue on the blade and i had heaps of trouble with it clogging. Not worth the hassle IMO.

Derby i didnt think these were as sharp as some of the others but no other problems than that. At times i felt like it was pulling more than cutting.

Personna's these are my pick so far, from the first time i used one these have stood out, blade doesnt clog, no rash.

Edit: Tried the Feathers today and as previouly mentioned they are sharper than any of the others but they become noticably blunter about half way through the shave. Still pretty good but i think you would struggle to get more than one shave out of them.

That question could only be coming from someone below 20 and just out of puberty. Otherwise you cannot be serious.
If you have the choice between no facial hair and not needing to shave, versus the daily lather and scrape, it's a no-brainer.
For a start, think of all the extra sleep that you'd gain by not needing to shave!

I like mixing it up with facial hair and I don't grow it like a beast.

I know what you mean, you like the ABILITY to be able to grow facial hair. I'm well and truly past that point. I even looked at laser hair removal a couple of years ago I was that sick of shaving. Did the first session but it was fairly painful and left a rash that lasted 2 weeks. Was supposed to have another 5 sessions but I never went back.
 
I guess it depends on the person, you sound like a wilderbeast whereas I only need to shave once every 4 days.

Haven't tried that. It is perfectly normal for black guys to have such facial hair.
 
Not really sure what's wrong with that style there, if you can pull it off then do it.

Ive had the pencil beard a few times but i mix it up so many times these days that i don't have a favourite anymore. Plus the gf keeps the hassle on to be clean shaven which im trying to fight.
