I dont take all that much notice of what commentators have to say these days. But evidently Tony Shaw said on aw last night that he doesnt care what anyone else thinks, but in his opinion Pagan is the best coach going around. What he has done over the years and how he has done it he says, is not matched by anyother coach. Give me Pagan instead of Sheedy anyday he said. Pagan has brought his boys up at Arden Street, not with the mod cons that other football clubs have, but with more controversy than other clubs have had to put up with over the years. Pick another club that has the same disadvantages that Pagan has, the same money shortages that Pagans had at the club, and they dont even come close. I also remember someone asking Shaw who he would like to sit with in a Coaches box and he said Pagan.

While watching the replay last night, it was also mentioned that both the coaches had been asked about going to Freo next year.
While Pagan said that he wanted the Kangas to sign him up again, as he was excited about where we were going in the future. Wallace said "you never say never", then had to ring some of his players and say "I didnt mean that".

Just one other thing. Those of you who have been saying sack the coach over the past few weeks (when we lose), maybe you should take up Freo as your second team, as you should get a kick out of the way they handle there club, everyone wants to belong to a club like that:rolleyes:

Sack Pagan what a joke. Sheedy has managed to stay at one club for a long long time. Start sacking coaches because they dont do what the supporter wants or thinks, then you lose the whole being of your club.

(Did I just hear Ben Allen say on aw that "losing the players in the draft last year (the depth of their side) for Bell was questionable?".)

Right on ol' gal!

Those particular people don't mind cheering the coach when we win, geez, but when we loose, they are like Richmond Supporters-turning on their own......

Oh and where's the Clayton didn't do this and didn't do that, should've done this and should've done that, posts??? Oh that's right we won, the whipping boy gets off this week.......

Granted CIK (nice to catch up again buddy) Tony Shaw is not my favorite commentator and I didn't respect him highly as a coach...but when you are right, you are right.

I agree with some of the unpopular views you have but on Pagan you are dead wrong.

I would be devasted if he left and so would the North Melbourne Football Club.

How many times does this man have to prove how good he is, how smart he is and how strong he is. Look at his record. Try to remember how many times they wanted to sack Sheedy and how he came back?

I get so enraged just from any suggestion that at a slight down turn, Pagan should consider leaving.

PS What about No 31 last nite...looks promising!!!!

"Pags" is not going anywhere!!

Why in the world, when GOOD coaches are as precious as diamonds, would a club or its supporters want the coach to leave?

Everyone was singing Eades' praises. Why????
'Lethal' is having a battle in Brissy, despite the Lions receiving $6 million and the extra players they wanted.

The only coaches I 'rate', under sufferance, Malthouse, Brittain (but that is also with Carlton's winning philosophy) and that weevil Shee...

re CIK

I think I know where CIK is coming from, but don't necessarily agree.

The fact is, 2001 is not the first season we have struggled to keep up with the pace. We did struggle last year, but managed to fall over the line in a few games. In truth, 4th position probably flattered us somewhat.

It was frustrating watching the same old tired gameplan getting beaten by the half decent teams, but this seems to have changed now.

Pagan has finally seen the light and made the necessary changes.

I shared CIK's frustration, and for all accounts it did look like Pagan had stuck to the "it got us 2 flags etc" philosophy, when the rest of the football world was passing us by.

Having said that, calls for his head were a little premature, for mine. We were yet to see Pagan in a period of adversity, remembering that we've been genuine flag contenders in every year since he started in 93.
