Still neither have signed new contracts.deeka did say about 6 weeks that he may have some news in a couple of weeks but still no announcements.with only 6 weeks to go it is starting to get abit worrying.

Not really, scharenberg wants to wait to see if he can crack it for a couple of senior games before putting pen to paper in the hope of upping his value.
Freeman I'm not worried about, can't see anybody wanting him at this stage with all his problems, he'll sign when ready

Freeman is victorian, so that pretty much confirms to me that contract talks are rather complicated for both players due to lack of debuts.

What does it matter these days? If they leave we make sure we get adequate compensation through a trade or the draft, perhaps even a 3 way trade so you end up with an Aish instead of a Freeman

FWIW from the horses mouth at a Collingwood function last week, "Im just happy to be playing footy again (after almost missing 2 years) and concentrating on getting a game (in the seniors) first."

Shaz won't be signing up until he gets a game, im still more positive that hes staying and not quite as worried as I was a few months ago.

I'm not sure on this. I've read this a couple of times but surely a guy plagued with injury would be more interested in concentrating on just playing good football and not trying to inflate his price somewhat without even playing a senior game. I'm not sure I like this attitude if true.

Surely even if he plays a couple of AFL games it wouldn't inflate his price that much?

Could even backfire on him is he comes in and doesn't perform.

You couldn't trade Freeman for Aish, that's why it matters. If he leaves now he's going at rock bottom value after we spent a premium pick to get him.

Yeah Aish for Scharenberg is more of a possibility. I would do that if it was offered but even that is unlikely.

Sharenberg for Lever.
Lever has once again showed his AFL ready and will make the grade. Shaz unfortunately has been subjected to injuries and is yet to debut at AFL level - It just won't happen.

I wouldn't be surprised to see shaz debut either this week or next, Oxley looks like he could do with a run in the twos and shaz is a like for like replacement.

People here are going crazy.
Lots of assumptions been thrown around that could be true but im sure there is many factors that the club is working out and on behind closed doors with price offers to trade in players from other clubs first before signing those two boys on the dotted line maybe....

Bite. Hand. Off.

You should consider why.

Lever is a good ball user. Frost and Brown are not. Either of those two could be used to get Treloar or another player.

We need to upgrade good players to very good players. of course subject to Sharenberg wanting out.

That's the point... By playing good footy you elevate your price, so he's doing both at the same time.

Maybe not, we've had plenty debut and not play good footy.

There are several reports I've read saying that whilst Shaz is serviceable and making in roads in the VFL, he's still not ready for the AFL. Could easily come in and be out in the following week. not sure how that really helps his Contract.

Freeman would just get a Continuation on the Money what he is getting now.

Shaz is probably waiting for end of the season to see IF he plays any AFL Footy this year and IF he does he might get tad more money

If the assumptions we're making are true then it's simply a gamble he's willing to take. Still doesn't really indicate that he values money above performing well, but neither does it discount it as a possibility. At the end of the day, I have nothing against people who place a higher worth on material items, so be it.
