the 15millions dollar signing of in 1996 the magpies biggest signing and best i would say so far , shearers contract has extended till 2004/2005 were he says he will probally finish his career , he wants to finish it at newcastle , will shearer continue even further than 2005 ???
i think shearer will sit with bobby robson for a few years then maybe take over the magpies ,

newcastle will need to be looking for a replacement of for the goal scoring machine that he has been for the magpies , they will need to find someone with a bit of spark like shearer when he joined the club ,so far i have enjoyed watching shearer play and , meeting him in person at a game

james beattie widely tipped to be the next toon striker, cant see him staying with the saints whilst they continue to dwindle mid-table. however newcastle arent doing much better...ah glory be it, newcastle can have alan smith, hes sh1t anyway!!

If Beattie leaves Soton there is no way in the world it will be to go to Newcastle. And as for dwindling mid table I reckon they are as good a chance as any of breaking into the top 5 or 6 for a sustained period of time.

If you are giving Smith away, I'd certainly love to see him at City, and I can't believe that your views would be shared by very many other Leeds supporters. Elland Rd will be torn down the day Smith is sold.

I guess you didn't see any of our Champions League campaign? Or the game against Charlton last year when he set up 5 goals? Smudger may be no world beater but he's a bloody good player who gives it his all every time he's on the pitch.

i think you might se beattie at the toon , buddy i most think your quote about no way he willl go to newcastle is wrong , but we all have our opinions , as for a top 5 or 6 spot i dont think so try about 8 or 9 for the saints to get it right

ok our champions league campaign was 3 years ago and smith hasnt learnt any new tricks, or matured in anyway since then. he doesnt score enough goals to be a striker, should be played in the midfield imo.

ok, i grant you his game against charlton last year was good...big whoop, it was only charlton, and his only good game in 2 years.

he is massively overrated and its a pity that the stupid leeds locals will have such a cry if he gets sold, cos leeds will go forward straight away if he goes.

You are right, it's all about opinions and IMO I have just as much chance of playing at St James Park in black and white stripes as Beattie.

He will come at a very high price, unless he sees out his contract at Soton. If that happens he certainly will be looking at an Arsenal or Man United, if neither of them are interested I think he will stay where he is.

Newcastle post Shearer will be in a pack of a dozen teams fighting for 5-10th spot, I would say there will be several more desirable places for Beattie to go the the north east.

I thought he was one of Leeds best last year, playing mostly on the right side of midfield. He is young, talented, versatile and a fighter, and if he leaves Leeds there will be plenty of other clubs very interested.

being one of leeds' best last year doesnt mean anything, you or i could have been one of leeds' best last year. you are right though, he played better last year on the right-wing and should be doing the same this year. his partnership with viduka is not working, hopefully monkey man tries some things in our match against swindon town.

We're bigger than that.

We fill a 52000 seat stadium every week even now when things are the bleakest they've been since Gullit's reign of terror.

We've got money and young talent. There's no reason financially why we can't go on with it.

In the last 8 years we've held:

***The world transfer record
***British record fee for a defender
***Record fee for a teenager
***Record fee for an 18yo

And you reckon we'll be scrapping with the likes of Spurs and Villa when Super Al shuffles off? We're not Leeds. We're not Boro.

We're Newcastle United.

Maybe not Spurs and Villa, but I don't think you have a squad (without Shearer) any better than City, Soton, Blackburn, Liverpool. I only think Beattie will leave Soton to go to one of the big clubs, and despite your impressive record over the last few years you are not one of them.

You have to be the mouthiest Villa fan on the planet. Why?

Villa are insignificant at home and abroad. Ehiogu and Southgate left you for Boro.

Speaks volumes.

Go sign a superstar like Dublin, Crouch or McCann't.

Post your club honours up against ours and you will quickly learn who is insignificant.
How many european cups has the toon army won?
You were up there for two years and good luck to you's but all i see in necastle now is a mid table side incapable of challenging ars manu manc liv & chel fro a CL place.
Bramble
Cort
Woodgate, overrated
There some real quality signings.
Check the record books and you will learn very fast just how ignificant we are and will be in the future.
We possess one of the youngest 1st teams in the EPL. Newcastle rely on old man Alan Shearer to score 50% of there goals. Remember he won't be there forever, but i guess Lua Lua and Bellamy are capable replacements (i think not)
Don't go banking on any Newcastle revival this year becuase it just won't happen. You will lose again this week against the Gooners.
Up the Mighty Villa!!!
