SHEEDY EYES TRANMERE JOB
Caretaker Wants Full-Time Role
CARETAKER boss Kevin Sheedy has admitted he would be interested in stepping into the Tranmere hotseat on a permanent basis following the shock resignation of John Aldridge.
Sheedy has joined forces with reserve team manager Ray Mathias to take charge of struggling Rovers' trip to Gillingham on Tuesday.
Sheedy said: "I would certainly be interested in the job.
"But we've just got to focus on tomorrow night's game. It comes quickly after Saturday and I'll focus on that and then I'll look at the situation.
"We had a meeting with the players yesterday to clear their heads and now they've got to be professional and focus on Gillingham and put in a good performance."
Aldridge resigned following the 3-2 defeat against Barnsley at Prenton Park and Sheedy revealed: "We spent a long while trying to talk him round because we thought he had a hell of a lot to offer this club still.
"But he had a decision to make and he felt he had had enough. He's really disappointed at the minute but I'm sure once he's gone away and recharged his batteries and cleared his head he will get himself back up and running and be back in the game."
