Apparently Essendon are red hot to recruit Shannon Grant.
They are supposed to have approached Arden Street with a Rioli, Prior & draft pick package.
Rioli is a talent but is still to deliver & Prior is just average. North would be crazy to accept this. Instead of Prior they should offer Barnard, Rioli & a their first round draft pick!

Rioli is Sheeds' new favourite player, he loves him, that info. is total bullshit. In the imortal words of Daryl Kerrigan "tell him he's dreamin'", whoever fed you that crap.

Shannon Grant's a dime-a-dozen attacking midfielder, unlike the pure class of Rioli. Did you miss all of last year and Round 20 2000, he's a gun. Granted Prior's average, but no way will they get rid of Rioli. They want his little cousin as well, in about 6-8 years time he'll be a household name.

Rooboy, name one player the Dons have stolen in Sheedy's reign, you dickhead, don't let the facts get in the way of a spray.

BOMBER BLITZ IN 2000!

I've heard this rumour also.
Rioli is Rene Kink. He doesn't know how to say no to second helpings plus there is some concern about a degenaritive knee condition.

I heard Miller told them a Norm Smith Medallist costs a lot more than an overweight lazy injury prone footballer.

Fair dinkum Essendon are w***ers some time.
How about Lucas, Moorcroft & a 1st round draft pick.

I can guarantee that Rioli will not be traded.

I can understand Shannon Grand wanting to go to a big club. I'd hate it at North too. At least at Essendon he'll be joining a team team that :

A.) Plays in front of more than 6000 people
B.) Will be the reigning premiers in 2001
C.) Won't lose any matches by 125 points.

If he stays at North he will continue to play in front of shit crowds. He will play for a team that DID NOT win the 2000 Grand Final. And he will also continue to play for the team that has the stench of a 125 point loss going through them.

Surely, it's in Shannons Grants best interests to make a move due to these factors.

Dave it happens on half the posts.

A few bomber supporters change the thread to suit their own agenda or the Roo fans take a swipe at the don fans.

Its a game that has become a little stale.

rice you were spt on
but not only is rioli sheeds love child he is loved by everyone at essendon including the supporters. he would never leave and has one ambition in his football career. to play in a premiership side under sheedy with michael long
i wouldnt ever trade prior for grant
has anyone ever seen grant play a good game when nth hasnt
he is a front running smart arse who will be remembered for his one great game in a grand final and not for his true attributes (yet to be proven he has any) and is not the type of player that essendon needs or wants. rioli is full of class, skill and actually has a lower skin fold rating than dustin fletcher so in this case he really is just big boned
and if you want to talk about stolen players, how did nth win there first two premiership, anybody remember a bloke named barry davis, among others

you really have no idea, i have yet to meet an intelligent kangaroos supporter, someone please prove me wrong

We have sausage sizzles at North, sorry we dont do Turtles, and like what is Essendons first round draft pick this year No 120...I thought they were still being punished for being dumb enough not to admit to salary cap cheating.North need pace in the midfield not
another goal sneak..we have harvey and winnie
who unlike Rioli manage to play most games through the year without some form of their anatomy breaking or enlarging to the extreme.
Sounds like another pub rumour.

barney you still havent proven me wrong
rioli would be much quicker than winnie
and as for the draft picks we are no longer punished, but maybe we should give them to nth as our young talent is plentiful and nth dont have any
oh sorry i forgot cochrane and lange have reigned supreme this year
cant wair for carey, martyn and archer to go in a year or to, nth will be battling not to get there asses spanked by that little wooden spoon

Walshy mate your wrong re the speed bit. Winston is quicker the Dean, no doubt. What Dean does is like his uncle Maurice was so good at. Just mmoovvveess sssmmmoooottthhh (i know its bad grammar but i wanted to show the 'feel' of it)

Otherwise i could care less about the trade

Be as negative as you like about essendon (I'm one of the worst) but you have to agree that they never 'pinch' players, not even from a dying Fitzroy

I'd expect them to reply to no recruiting last year by offloading som talent who's had a better than average year but might never repeat it again (A bit like Barry Young) But they also have salary cap issues so expect them to trade for lower draft picks to make up for no new talent last year.

Also, when sheeds wants Essendon to be he Man united of the AFL do you think he also means this:

In the premier league a player in ManU seconds is more likely to win premierships or other medals than in the first team of most other clubs. Why else would a national goalkeeper like Bosnich stay there ? If sheeds can extend Essendon dominance for a few years could they use this as encouragement to stay there, even though they could get more money and senior games elsewhere ?

I really hope that happens at some point. I would not like to see Essendon dominate the league, but it would be great if it was possible for teams to do so. I love dynasties and the ability of clubs to reap success from previous seasons, rather than having to start afresh each year.

People say the equalistion of the competition is great, but it isn’t. Because form doesn’t usually carry over from one year to the next there is no continuity in following a team or slowly building up to something great over a number of seasons through excellent management.

Sure, it’s nice for poor clubs to think they have a chance in any given year, but that’s not really fair to the top teams who have worked hard to achieve success in all areas, is it? I’ll probably get shot down on this one but that’s how I feel...

I respect North Melbourne because to some extent they have bucked the system with consistently high finishes.

Players SHOULD want to stay at a club for less if they know they have a great chance of playing in a premiership. Clubs who have achieved success over a number of years deserve that.
