TO Be honest i think Sheeds had targetted a few players to boost the pace in the midfield. Once he knew he couldnt snare tenace or Salopek or Riley Dunn i think sheeds pulled out of the trades. I honestly believe that trading Mark Johnson for someone like Travis Johnstone would be a mistake. I think that the drafting and development of Ricky Dyson and Stanton have given an injection into the Midfield that sheeds required. I think you will find he will sift through the preseason draft and uncover a rough diamond or snare someone big named who is demanding some big dollars

Or perhaps his saving his dollars to get Judd next year.

Realistically I don't think there was much on offer that we needed. Moloney is the only player that traded clubs that I believe we could have possibly got & needed but as it turned out Melbourne were able to offer more.
Wittnal may have been able to find a home on our forward line but from reports the asking price was far to high to take such a risk. If a player like Kerr had gone elsewhere & we'd missed the boat I'd be a bit peaved but looking at the deals that were done I don't feel like we missed out.

Without getting a marquee player I dont think they can be genuine contenders. However I wouldnt think they would have gotten close to the top 3-4 even with another midfielder. Long term they will be better off now they have the use of their earlier draft picks.

hahahahaha!!

your first two posts on bigfooty show you up to be an absolute goose.

yep, real smart waiting till 1.57pm to begin negotiations with Richmond on Zantuck

yep, real smart to ask for Scott West with a second round pick and a dud that's probably gonna get de-listed anyway

yep, real smart a big name in the pre-season draft when by the time your turn comes only rabble exists.

just confirms what everyone thinks of Essendon around trade time...... DON'T DEAL WITH THEM!!!!

now that's smart..........

Thankfully though we can always look to Collingwood for rip off deals,

Mal Micheal for Jarrod Molloy ring a bell?
Recruitment of Scott Cummins?
The loss of Paul Williams, Nick Davis, Damian Adkins and numerous more for practically zilch?
Recruitment of Chad Morrison after two knee reconstructions giving up a priceless Number 7 pick in return?

We can always rely on the AFL's trade bitches for a rip off deal that's for sure.

Michael was a kid that wanted $400,000. NO club would have paid that much for him back then.

Recruitment of Scott Cummins?
Got him for nothing in the PSD. Didn't do much, but is a great person around the club these dayss. Good bloke. So, who cares? Btw, the name is Cummings.

The loss of Paul Williams, Nick Davis, Damian Adkins and numerous more for practically zilch?
Williams needed a change of scenary - that's what he said on SEN the other day. He need to get away from the saturated Melbourne market. The guys still likes Collingwood.

Davis was a little crybaby, that wanted to go home to mummy. We had no choice in that.

Adkins has done zilch. Nothing more than an interchange player. Alright in bursts, but will never amount to more.

Recruitment of Chad Morrison after two knee reconstructions giving up a priceless Number 7 pick in return?
Played 22 (maybe it was 23) games this year, and had no problems with the knees. Still picks up possessions at whill across half back, and is handy up forward. We have moved up 3 places in draft, where after pick 6, it is very, very even.

He sure is a smart man. That's why you failed to do a trade AGAIN and agreed to a deal 2 mins b4 the deadline. Oh, and also offering a disgraceful deal for a champion in scott west.

Yep, smart man is sheeds.

To be fair to Collingwood... they were more worried about hanging on to their third round pick for Travis Cloke and securing Morrison that they were willing to be thrown down a few notches in the draft.

It's not exactly a great draft. Everyone's a smokey after 6 or 7.

You bag Sheedy about his trading, when all i can say is that you absolute di%^#&eads did a trade that saw you secure mckee and gave away the draft pick that was m pavlich. So what you got morrison woooooooooow you will come within 5 goals this year on anzac day and you will finish 10th. WELL DONE GOOSES!!!!!!!! We signed no one and we are ahead of you in most peoples selections right now to make the 8. I cant understand how dumb can you people be. See you all in round 5, WOBBLESSSS!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, cause if theres one thing that embarrases yourself, it's being the 2nd best team in the comp. No doubt about that. Mc phee, yeh he's a good player, so was carracella, 2 time premiership player yeah? cupido is nothing. wanna bring up trades, how about clement? buckley? this is just pointless no?

This is the same Greg Millar who was shooting his mouth of earlier in the week about Norths offer for Ottens. Although he has done a good job for Richmond in this trade week his history of telling pork pies to the media gives him little credability in that area

Carracella is a good player ,if your side is doing well. When the chips are down and you need someone to step up to the plate then forget about Blake because he is soft in that area.
Now for Cupido he is not consistant but last season he kicked 40 goals so he did a good job. This year he never had a chance to get fit, missed a good slice of the pre season and again early on in the season with a knee injury so to say he is nothing at this stage just shows that you are a clown. If he flops next year when he is fully fit then it is justified but if he kicks 30 or 40 goals then he is doing his job as a small fowrad.
We could keep going with trades for ever as all clubs have good ones and bad ones you can say Clement, Buckley we can say Wellman,Barnard ,LLoyd to name a few as well.

hahahahahahaha......Collingwood's drafting in recent years l;eaves a bit to be desired no doubt about that....

But u Essendon supporters continulally amuse me no end.....

after the finals on some bomber forum..all they were talking about was they were picking up bruce and Johnston and Rivers from Melbourne.....

then it was salopek..and dunn..and tenance....

but what happened???

Ottens Manager tells them to go to hell and never speak to him again after their pathetic offer...

and the richmond of all people make fun of them due to their decision making (1.57pm)

and u wanna talk about How great sheeds is at training..

Go back to the start of the year......and listen to what Sheedy said when u started off so badly...

He said something along the lines of he was ready to give up first 3 picks for a qucik midfielder...

so what happened?????

Don't pick on just Essendon for their forums saying they were going to pick up every gun in the AFL. And most of that blame comes down to reports from SEN. They reported every half-arsed rumour going around.

Check every board. Delusional fans exist everywhere.

And comparing Caracella with McPhee is so laughable it's futile. One won't get a kick in a poor side, the other can lift a side.

lets see what happened. Ok didnt get who we wanted, made some bids for some players, didnt come off as the bids where not good enough. So what happened, well we stuck to what has kept us at the top for extended periods of time and that is we didnt get involved in any stupid trade for the sake of trading deals. Now we move on, get a chance to give the 5 or 6 mid fielders we have who are under 22 a go and go from there. If it fails then we will be in a better position to have a bid or draft further up next time around.

Chad only played 18 games.

Much as I hate to write it, Sheedy is a smart man (got O'Donnell back, and that IS smart!),
I can see it coming - will pick up Adrian Cox in the PSD and will make a very good player out of him.
