Wouldn't have anything to do with being a young player would it?
Being inexperienced?
But that's what happens to young players, they get exposed.
It happened to Ryder at times this year. I think sometimes we forget that Kep was a kid playing a mans role and instead of recognising that, we automatically assume that playing him there was a mistake.
I don't believe it was a mistake, I believe it was a lesson.
You win some, you lose some.
Paul Barnard, Dean Solomon, Danny Jacobs...
I think drafting Kep was a combo of best available and need. We needed a tall.
I don't know about that either, I reckon he was a natural midfielder who was never going to have the pace to play that role at AFL level.
If you ranked his best positions, it would have been midfield, forward, back. In that order. We wanted to develop him into a tall midfielder, but it was obviously early that he didn't have the agility for it.
We had Lloyd, Lucas etc, but a lack of depth back. Playing him back was the right idea, it didn't work out but it looked good for 12 months.
Only because we had Lloyd and Lucas.
If one of them weren't at the club, Kep would be a Bomber in 2008.
Well it doesnt really matter now anyway as he is gone. Chalk this up to another area where we agree on some parts but have diferrent views on a few other areas.
