Wednesday 25th of July 2007 the darkest day in EFC history...DISGRACE
Why? You only have to have a set of ears to listen to the radio.![]()

No, I wouldn't think so. Essendon and Melbourne have an ageing list, or at least a number of top players that are around 30 or more. They would be the last two on my list .
Freo are still in the middle of something so you could get some immediate results. For long term prospects and potential I think Carlton would be the one they will go for first.
Good luck Kevin, I'm sure you will find some sort of job pretty soon
I'm a Blues supporter and even I think that after 27 years and 4 premierships he deserved alot more than that. Absolutely disgraceful hang your heads Essendon Board.
The logic may befuddle you, but see if you can concentrate: We wanted them to keep the bloke who has taken Essendon to 4 premierships, 7 grand finals, 384 wins and just 220 losses. Who more than any other individual has influenced the direction of our game over the last 40 years.

It's pretty rich I know considering Richmond's history of treating coaches but Sheedy was a champion coach for the Bombers.
This is a big dish of disrespect served up.![]()
i agree totally. what a disgrace. the great man has taken us to two premierships, and through numerous grand final campaigns, despite being a club legend, and a enormous asset to the club. as was said in the age today sheedy should be able to handle his own exit if he is no longer required at essendon next year.
very angry about this decision to handle the matter this way.
Blood on your hands 'Bombs Away'!!!!
Today is a momentous day, the dawn of a new future at the Essendon Football Club.
The club has definitely made the correct decision, although admittedly, gone about it the wrong way.
Bring on 2008!
, to here that Sheeds is going. In my view Sheeds is still very highly respectable person in the football nation, Sheeds is a true icon
Bombers couldn't win with this one.
It was obvious before today that Sheeds wasn't going to be there next year. Whether he should or shouldn't is not my place to comment on.
What were they to do?
1: Continue the charade and wait until just before the round 21 game to announce that he wouldn't be continuing and in previous four weeks, turn the whole saga into a mockery?
2: announce it now. end the innuendo and give Kevin the chance to continue for the rest of the season? Puts the ball back in his court and at least gives him some control over the situation as to what path he chooses.
From a supporter of a club that goes through coaches like underwear, No 2 is the best long-term option, in my opinion. Might not seem like it now, but the media circus had already gotten out of control. Imagine what it would have been like in a month's time?
For the record Sheedy has been absolutely brilliant for the game and no doubt brilliant for Essendon. I congratulate him on a wonderful coaching career, if it does indeed end right now.
Yeah exactly, I see a lot of disrepect claims here but what other way was there to do it. It's like staying with a girlfriend even if your over it, but you know you've got to make the tough decision at one stage, even if it's messy.
I'm very surprised that he's gone, I haven't been alive without Sheedy coaching Essendon, but the club's made a tough decision that had to made sooner rather than later. And now we're in the best position to find the best coach available. Not to be an arrogant supporter, but I'm sure a lot of coaches would find coaching Essendon a lot more appealing than coaching Carlton, Melbourne or Freo.
