Scratcher Neal was another I always remember having some toe playing on the opposite wing to Turkey.
Your avatar reminds me of Scratcher, he was fast, but in a straight line sort of way, not the evasive or smooth speed of Turner/Wojo.
Steve Lunn also could run, but a lot of these guys did not back themselves in to take on the opposition, unlike Wojo/Turner, they'd run really fast when in the open, and get rid of the ball as soon as they were pressed.

Agreed, which is why I'm amazed everyone wants him as a defender and not a winger. If there's ever a player naturally suited to stand on the logos and take off he's it.
Totally agree. Murdoch's clearly demonstrated a natural instinct for where the goals are... a clear goal sense. Has the pace to break lines from the wing, yet also be very fruitful when inside the 50m. imo he's a natural winger.

Was going to mention Lunn too, but since he only had a so so career I didn't bother. I always remember Lunnie had a blue and white Commodore with the number 39 on the petrol cap. About summed him up, lol. Bit of a figjam Reynoldson type.

Scratcher certainly wasn't a smooth mover like Turkey in an era with a lot of great wingmen. Wojo to me was more of a ballistic runner, just get it and go. Played some great games and in particular some big moments at important times but used to do a lot of stupid, undisciplined things when he wasn't getting a kick to try and inject himself into the game.

Anthony 'Tony' Polinelli (born 18 February 1943) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the early 1960s.
Polinelli started his career as a rover but developed into a dashing wingman. The club encouraged him to train with Arthur Edgerton, a specialist sprint coach based in Geelong. Under Edgerton's guidance Polinelli won the 1966 Bendigo Gift before finishing 2nd to Bill Howard in the 1966 Stawell Gift.
He was a reserve in Geelong's 1963 premiership side and only appeared on the field briefly during the last quarter. It is said that he had a pipe which he would smoke during the half time of matches.[1] He was shortlisted for the VFL/AFL Italian Team of the Century but didn't make the final cut.

Reckon this bloke might be right up there !! Runner up in the Stawell Gift suggests he had some wheels on him.
Love the reference to the pipe smoking at 1/2 time.

Yeah, it even used to be said that he had the trainers bring out the makings to him at 3/4 time, but I suspect that one or both stories may have become a little exaggerated.
