Renshaw named but in doubt due to his concussion. Feldman was rested for the final round and should come back in for Steketee or Doggett.

Weather update for Friday/day 1:

Partly cloudy. High (80%) chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm. 4 to 15mm...

Win the toss and bowl with the Dukes!!! Could be carnage in the first session

Agree on past finals... But how many finals have used the Duke balls?

Looks like the first session will be lost due to a a wet outfield... Umpires will likely take an early lunch and hope to make it up later.

Its a 5 day game. The weather may shorten the game.

However both sides have bowling attacks which have done the job for them so far.

I recon both batting line ups will be under enormous pressure.

3 days may well be plenty enough time to decide this match. The Duke could be a batsman killer for the whole game.

Dont blink, you could miss it!!! ;)

Today is going to be the only day that will have major weather issues.

Assuming the first session is "lost":
1. The umpires can call lunch early (saving 40 minutes of potential lost time in the first session).
2. The umpires are permitted to extend play by 30 minutes tonight (permitted overtime -
12.11.2.1.3) and an extra hour (12.11.3) for a total of 90 minutes (depending on light).

I'm still optimistic they can get 75-80 overs in today. Over rate will not be helped by majority of overs being bowled by pace

WHAT. A FARR-E-KING JOKE - It isn't raining but the outfield wont drain because we are playing at a club cricket facility. This is insane. Sounds like we will lose the whole of day 1s play.

That's the way it is. Shield finals not being played on 1st Class venues is pathetic. This is what we get for allowing the season to be put on hold for nearly 2 months so we can play Mickey Mouse cricket. Most sports end their season with a bang, but cricket just tends to fizzle out to nothingness.

Shield Final for at 30 years has been played at this time of year. What's had an impact is AFL starting it season's earlier and with the way the competition been developed grounds which were once mainly used for cricket are now needed for football. Hopefully the junction oval development has put in quality draining.

Speaking of draining the Zimbabwean workers did a pretty good job last night of getting things back on track.

I thought the wicket was ok but the outfield wouldn't drain properly?

Both sides batters will be under pressure to two good attacks.

I honestly have no idea - i do back George Bailey's judgement over mine at home ha ha ha

The pitch has been covered the last few days... Pitch looks quite green and has a few cracks. So might not be a road after all.
