Who is in favor of a name change for the Sheffield Shield as it is titled after a colonial figure. The Donald Bradman Shield sounds far more appropriate and is honoring our greatest ever cricketer. In fact I am both astounded that the update has not happened as this is the 21st century not the 19th.

It's like how the Brownlow medal is named after some old Geelong chairman.

It should change but I don't care about it that strongly.

Plus you know, Bradman was a descendant of colonisers.
So. That is not a valid debate. On January 1st, 1901 Australia became an independent nation with the opening of the Australian Parliament. To look at the British colonial ties that still remain, you would be hard pressed to believe that we are sovereign and independent. When are we gonna cut the remaining strings that still tie us to Britain. Have already mentioned Sheffield Shield, named after a wealthy British colonial aristocrat who happened to follow cricket. Then there are far more important ties that need cutting such as the Constitution which is based on the British system with the Head of State being a foreign monarch. Such as our national emblem that has a foreign flag on it. I find that hard to respect. Sorry for the rant.

I think the states should change their names too as it is a symbol of said colonisers as well.
Dont quite understand your meaning. They should definitely change the state flags that, like our national emblem, bears the flag of a foreign nation. Also change the emblem on the iconic Baggy Green cap as that too is colonial and not our Coat of Arms as many believe it is, myself included until I found out.

I agree with the constitution part of all this. But really the Sheffield Shield is very much not of importance in comparison. What would we change it to? The Australian First Class national competition?

So we take the land and tell the British we don't believe in stealing land?
