  • 5. Aaron FINCH
  • 7. Sam HARPER (+)
  • 14. Marcus HARRIS
  • 18. Jon HOLLAND
  • 53. Nic MADDINSON
  • 32. Glenn MAXWELL
  • 19. James PATTINSON
  • 10. Will PUCOVSKI
  • 2. Matt SHORT
  • 99. Chris TREMAIN
In: Finch, Handscomb, Harper, Maddinson, Maxwell
Out: Travis DEAN, Seb GOTCH, Peter SIDDLE, Cameron WHITE

No room for last year's victorious captain Dean with Maddinson selected to open the batting alongside Marcus Harris in what must be the strongest domestic Top 6 this season. Gotch is out with an ankle injury allowing Sam Harper to return to the side while Siddle is still recovering from injury suffered during the Fifth Ashes Test.

SA XII
  • 34. Travis HEAD (c)
  • Wes AGAR (SS debut)
  • 29. Tom ANDREWS
  • 5. Alex CAREY (+)
  • 26. Tom COOPER
  • Henry HUNT (FC debut)
  • 33. Jake LEHMANN
  • 55. Kane RICHARDSON
  • 11. Luke ROBINS
  • 28. Jake WEATHERALD
  • 44. Nick WINTER
  • 63. Adam ZAMPA
In: Agar, Carey, Cooper, Hunt, Richardson, Zampa
Out: Brad DAVIS, Conor McINERNEY, Harry NIELSEN, Chadd SAYERS, Kelvin SMITH

Hunt is an opening batsman recruited from the ACT and gets his chance as last year's opener Conor McInerney returns in grade cricket from a broken arm. Cooper earns a recall after strong pre-season and March One-Day cup form after being omitted late last year. Sayers is missing with a lower back injury while Joe Mennie is recuperating from a hamstring strain. Another fast bowling option in Daniel Worrall will make his return in grade cricket, giving Wes Agar a chance for his Shield debut.

Don't really need the 4 quicks here, but a real sophie's choice between Zampa and Agar. Think Neilson is a tad unlucky, already has a FC ton to his name and could be an okay option at 7 so he can continue to develop instead of having the extra bowler who won't look dangerous in all likelihood.

Got a day off on Friday.
Have no idea how to navigate through the metro shitshow to get there. Awful network.
You're in Geelong, yeah? Train to Flinders, tram down Swanston on the #6 and you can walk from there

Travis Dean finally dropped, miracles do happen. Hopefully this is the start of another strong campaign for the Vics aiming for our 5th shield title in 6 seasons.
