I wondered this myself, but more on role and field placing. I'm sure Pope is just following instructions to throw it up and attack, but leaving some of those leg side boundaries completely open, and not have two back deep at square leg and mid wicket, for example, was a tactical error IMO.

No doubt Pope bowls some ripper balls and this pitch may not be offering much, but have to help mitigate those bad balls and not go for 4.5 an over
