Surely McDermott, as the superior keeper, takes the gloves?

Don't think so, played Futures league during the week. Tasmania have made some interesting selections all season.

Hmm, interesting.

Seems a bit like they're trying to see exactly what they have in some blokes, who have been around the Tassie squad/FC scene for a few years (Rainbird, Kingston, Milenko, Stephenson) rather than go with the "sure thing", older, more experienced option in Fekete.

Where's Andrew Fekete at the moment? Injured?

Only has 7 wickets at 43, including a single wicket in his last two matches. For a bloke who made the Test squad last year he's pretty badly out of form. Would like to see him play Future's for the next game as well to get his confidence up.

Anybody else enjoying the look of Stevenson? Could be a handy player

Fair enough, thought he would have had a few more credits in the bank, to be persisted with through a bit of lean form. Then again, they were pretty quick to push Hilfenhaus out the door at the first sign of him dropping off, so they're probably pretty ruthless with the vets in Tassie.

I'd enjoy the look of him a lot more as a young/inexperienced talent if he, you know, took a wicket, and wasn't already 24 years old.

Good stuff by KP, 100 would have really put more pressure on Maddo.
Nevill hitting straight back with that 50, must be more relieved not having to come in at 5/40.

absolutely amazed with George and the coaching staff, sending the opposition in .
especially when Jimmie is restricted in the number of overs he can bowl, and our number 1 bowler Jackson Bird is away on test duties.!!
George has had form, with this "wrong call " for a number of years !!!!!

He had some injuries in the pre-season, I think back related. He is working his way back into match fitness. He played earlier in the season and got smashed around. I think he had issues with keeping his pace consistent. Hasn't been thrown out of the side. Is being given an opportunity to build up match fitness instead of playing underdone and losing confidence after getting smashed around.

Brett Geeves alludes to Fekete injury/form in this article:

"...
Pace has been lacking from the team since Andrew Fekete burst on to the scene as a mature-age player. Sadly, he is now battling through the recovery of pre-season stress fractures..."

I would expect Fekete to be firing in late january after the T20 period.

Still can't believe they didn't bother to include Boyce. Webster is a handy part timer but nowhere near handy enough to be the lone spinner in the line up

Shield bowling record - 43 matches, 1094.4 overs, 49.85 average, 80.10 strike rate, 3.73 economy rate
2016/17 Shield record - 2 matches, 30.2 overs, 80.00 average, 91.00 strike rate, 5.27 economy rate

That's why.

Great knock by Nevill, 179no.
Great to see he took his dropping on the chin and has shown the selectors up as muppets

He didn't have much to complain about re: being dropped.

It is good to see him respond in this fashion.
His form with the bat hasn't been fantastic but he is one of the few to show some grit while batting this series and atleast put some value on his wicket.
And to be replaced by a inferior glovesman was ordinary IMO
