42 overs, 0/135 for Chadd Sayers.

Average of 32.82 for the season so far. His trademark game-to-game and season-to-season inconsistency continues.

Can’t believe his continual whinging about not being selected for Australia. He’s clearly not at that level.

Disgraceful to lose to a previously winless outfit, gonna be yet another wasted season for SA, $ACA board OUT!!!
We’d only lost once and still had the nucleus of a triple title squad...

What an incredibly stupid comment. Before this match had an average of less than 25 (17 wickets in 4 games), the year before took 62 wickets @19.00. One poor match in the past 2 seasons makes him inconsistent? Come on guys, if he was a Victorian, you guys would be screaming like a tree full of monkeys that he never made the Australian team ... like you do for anyone who plays for Victoria.

His results go up and down from year to year, and he even had a few matches last season where he took 1-2 wickets, in between the big hauls.

Unless Ryan Harris can share with him what he did or took to add 20km/h to his pace after the age of 30, I don't see Sayers having any sort of Test career.

I'm a born and bred South Australian, too. I couldn't give a s**t what state he or anyone else comes from or plays for.

If we're going on Shield form and results, Chris Tremain should rightfully be the "next in line", because he's had a better record over the past 2-3 years of Shield cricket, has more versatility, more pace, and is younger and has more scope for improvement and longevity. I'd even give Joe Mennie another chance (his lone Test wasn't terrible) ahead of Sayers, as his Shield record has also been better over the last few seasons.

I know it's the "knowledgeable" "traditionalist" opinion to champion the English-style medium-pace trundlers and stodgy defensive openers, but IMO, Sayers is simply overhyped and wouldn't succeed at Test level. On top of that, our pace bowlers aren't exactly struggling or an area of weakness, so we don't need him to be this "saviour" that some tout him to be.

Victoria perhaps still a rough chance for the shield final and if they get in with Maxwell to play the last 3 games could be a chance to win it.
We've won 1 game against the second bottom side coming into the round.

Only lost 1 game and are within 1 match worth of points from 2nd. Absolutely everything to play for.

Yet the 2 teams in front of us will suffer most from the test squads departure. NSW are only 2nd cos they had a few games at full strength early on, this week showed the quality of their side without them and WA lose Marsh x 2, Bancroft and Richardson. They'll surely struggle.

At least for Victoria, Handscomb is easily replaced by Maxwell and Finch making us stronger and Ahmed can replace Holland. Really comes down to whether the quicks have turned the corner and keep taking wickets

Big challenge coming up against the top of the ladder Bulls next week at the G. That will show us where we are at. If the test squad doesn't play it will be tough with no Handscomb, Holland as well as Finch and Maxwell though

Important to remember Victoria has only lost 1 game this season and have 4 draws. The MCG wicket is perhaps a reason for all these draws but looking at that current shield ladder nearly all sides could make the final.
Yes we've only lost one but *, we've only won one as well. Our batting has been horrendous and we lose Handscomb for the rest of the season

I'm yet to be convinced. We've only had one win, and only one of or draws looked like we could win it.

WA will still have Bosisto, Cartwright, Turner, Stoinis and Inglis in the top 7, with an attack of Kelly (19 wickets at 17), Mackin, Agar and it seems Bevilaqua which is more than good enough so far this season, without mentioning Stoinis, Bosisto, Turner (believe he can bowl again) and probably D'Arcy Short in the top 7.
