Important game between two sides keen to keep pace with the leaders. Tasmania will be disappointed to go down to the Blues at home after being in a strong position whilst the Warriors staved off a strong challenge from the Bulls at the WACA to only concede 2 points to the Queenslanders.

Last game
  • NSW 264 (Doherty 3/37, Gulbis 3/78) and 4/255 (Rainbird 3/52) defeated Tasmania 354 (Dunk 89, Paine 78) and 164 (Cosgrove 81) by 6 wickets @ Blundstone Arena.
  • Western Australia 254 (M.Marsh 96, Whiteman 61) and 5/447 dec. (Voges 235*, Whiteman 74*) drew with Queensland 401 (Hogan 3/69) and 2/81 (Agar 2/22) @ WACA.
Tasmania XII squad
  • Tim PAINE (c)(+)
  • Xavier DOHERTY (vc)
  • Luke BUTTERWORTH
  • Mark COSGROVE
  • Ed COWAN
  • Alex DOOLAN
  • Ben DUNK
  • Andrew FEKETE
  • Evan GULBIS
  • Sam RAINBIRD
  • Clive ROSE
  • Jordan SILK
In: Fekete, Rose
Out: Ben HILFENHAUS (side strain)

Hilfenhaus hurt himself in the Blues game and only bowled 5 overs in the match. Fekete looks to be his direct replacement unless the Tigers opt for a second spinner in Rose.

Western Australia XII squad
  • Adam VOGES (c)
  • Ashton AGAR
  • Cameron BANCROFT
  • Jason BEHRENDORFF
  • Ryan DUFFIELD
  • Michael HOGAN
  • Simon MACKIN
  • Mitch MARSH
  • Shaun MARSH
  • Luke TOWERS
  • Ashton TURNER
  • Sam WHITEMAN (+)
In: Duffield, Mackin (SS debut), Towers, Turner (SS debut)
Out: Nathan COULTER-NILE (rest), Marcus NORTH (personal), John ROGERS (omitted)

The Warriors make 2 enforced changes and 1 unenforced change: NCN rested for the WACA Ashes Test and Marcus North on compassionate leave after the tragic death of his brother.

John Rogers is omitted after a run of low scores, returning only 1 fifty in his 9 nine innings this season. Towers gets another chance after making a golden duck replacing North mid-match against the Bulls. Shaun Marsh will move up to 3, with off-spinning all rounder Turner likely to slot in at 7 behind the in-form Whiteman who compiled 2 fifties against Queensland.

Mackin impressed in his NT outing against the Englishmen but Duffield is more likely to play after bowling well in his one game so far this year.

I think Faulkner has been released to play this game again. Expecting:

Cosgrove Towers
Silk Bancroft
Cowan S Marsh
Doolan Voges (c)
Dunk M Marsh
Faulkner Turner
Paine (c, +) Whiteman
Butterworth Agar
Gulbis Duffield
Doherty Behrendorff
Fekete Hogan

I'm leaning towards Tassie, on paper they have the better side, but sides are rarely won on paper

Eth dog if Gulbis play ahead of Rainbird I will not be happy.

Not as if he had a lead of 200 already

Second innings when he came in is the only time in the match where Tas didn't look rock solid and Paine batted extremely well then.

Doesn't pile on big scores but is hardly a renowned choker like you are making out. Has been making decent scores this year and very rarely do we have 150 on the board when Paine is coming in (at 6 or 7)
