Can anyone tell me why sheldon isnt palying for the blues this year and how did he get to brisbane , isnt he meant to be a gun just like his dad who played for 3 premierships for us

We had the opportunity to select him with a father son selection in last years draft but we decided not to.
Sheldon decided to still nominate for the draft and Brisbane picked him up with their last pick, if I remember correctly.
I think Carlton said they would take him this year with their father son selection but Sam decided to nominate last year instead.

we were going to take him father son but i think the rule at the time was that father son has to be before pick 40 or something so we decided that he wasnt good enough for that high a pick and the lions got him at like 70 something

I think due to the depth of last years draft the Blues asked him to wait until this year to be selected as F/S. He wasn't deemed to be worth a 3rd round pick relative to what else was on offer.
The Lions, still smarting from Carlton convincing Murphy to stay in Victoria, got in Sheldon's ear with the promise that he would be taken by them if still available. So Sam nominated, Carlton overlooked him with all their picks and Brisbane snaffled him with their last.

Anderson offers us more than Sheldon and Benjamin could be anything.
I wouldn't give up Austin when that's the pick we would have used to draft Sheldon under the FS rule last year.
Sheldon might not even be worth pick 36 in this draft.
You didn't want to spend pick 35 in last year's super draft on Sheldon, fair enough I can understand. But once he decided to nominate for the draft, you still could've used pick 51 or 67 on him, before we eventually got him at 70.
Anyway, it sounds like you blokes are happy with your picks, and we Brisbanites are very happy with Sam as well. Was showing quite a bit before a leg injury put him out of action for a while. Sounds like a top kid with the right attitude. Will be wearing #3 jumper for us next year.

We didnt rate him simple as that. Just because his dad was a gun means nothing. He might turn out to be a champion or he might be the next Jobe Watson.... time will tell!
