I'd have to acknowledge that you Pav think the 2006 Premiers have the worst off field culture - you start so many threads about it it's like some weird obsession.

Ben should be sanctioned for not running from the police like he did last year during the booze bus incident. Woosha should say to the squad 'if you get in trouble then run, run, run'. Clearly that was a positive influence in winning the flag this year.

Bad Ben, you didn't run.

No, No, No

It should be an opportunity for Whooosher to stress the importance of off field behaviour to the rest of the team and Newbies and Youngies

. I think the whole team should be punished in some small way...:p (Maybe a few 10k runs over the Christmas Break:D ) That would be worse punishment for Ben. It will teach them to be a TEAM and inforce the POINT that your actions reflect on the CLUB as a Whole...

I think thats how they do it in the Army... ..Or was it in Prision:eek:
Agreed. He shouldn't be sent to the WAFL for getting drunk during the off-season (even if he may of gone a bit overboard). A simple punishment similar to what markfarmer has pointed out should be sufficient.

Chris Judd made a good point when he said that footballers shouldn't be expected to be squeeky clean role-models. They play footy and that's it. Unless Cousins does something illegal (which he has done, not on this occasion I don't think) Benny should be left alone.

BTW West Coast with the worst off-field culture in the league, won the flag. Funny that.

You may think its a bit of a laugh, but surely, you would have to acknowledge, out of all the AFL clubs, West Coast have the worst off-field culture? :thumbsu:

And just so you know, Woosha said, and I quote, " Michael has been asked to train with the Tigers, until he can accept the clubs expectations of the player group, both on the field and off"

Surely, if the club were consistent, strong, they would follow their own precedent and sanction Cousins, for his own good and to set the benchmark for those who look up to him? :thumbsu:
What is worse, making a goose out of yourself by being drunk in public, doing the stupid booze bus run OR beating up your missus, resisting arrest?? All are bad, 2 are "silly things to do" the other 2 are becoming dangerous to society. Don't be too quick to label the Eagles Pav, the dockers have a worst off-field culture when you think about it & put it all into perspective.

Cousins shoudnt be banished to the Sharks because he is too good of a player. But West Coast should give him some sort of punishment such as a fine to show the public that their club takes action if one of there players does something wrong

you mean "the silly booze bus run" where he was drink driving, so drunk in fact he had to run away? I think that is quite dangerous to society, don't you?

He is not a golden boy, he is not untouchable, he is a pisshead who keeps getting away with his crap. WC set standards with Gardiner it would be a pity for them to look like fools and not keep those standards going.

Proof? According to eyewitnesses in the paper the next day he wasn't drinking.

No.
Someone who has played such a pivotel role in destroying the WAFL in the past decade should not be permitted to play in it.
You need to learn a new tune.

Send him to play father-son at Geelong where he should be.
That's a pretty harsh punishment just for being drunk in public :D

yep, he was just driving along after being at a wedding "not drinking" when all of a sudden a booze bus appears up ahead, out of nowhere for no reason whatsoever Ben decides to run off with his mate and leave his girlfriend alone in the car.

no, he didn't do anything wrong did, not a thing...................

wake up to yourself, Ben Cousins is a ******** of a bloke, with no morals, he hangs out with gangsters in his time off, and runs off from his loved ones when he's about to get sprung, but hey he can play football better than some, so i guess he's above the law!

Ben Cousins is the biggest ********er in AFL football, no doubt about it!:thumbsu:

According to his lawyer it was a pathological fear of flashing blue lights.

proof is when the little pussy ran away like the piece of ******** he is!

do i need anymore proof than that? if you believe so then your even dumber for trusting him!
Try and put yourself in this situation.

1) You're a well known AFL player in a 2 team town.
2) You go out to a social event and have 2 or 3 drinks in a 3-4hr period.
3) On the way home you spot a booze bus.
4) You know that you would blow an alcohol level above 0.00 but less than 0.05.

Because you are a "person of interest", would you be a bit worried as to what the media would say if you were just a tad over the limit??

I am not saying he did the right thing in doing a runner. BUT, there is such a thing as exceptional circumstances occasionally.

That's a good point. You've reminded me of the time (former State opposition leader) Matt Birney blew 0.04 on his way home from a long liquid lunch. Not outside the law of course, but somehow found its way into the local media who proceeded to roast Birney for his larrikin ways. Wouldn't have happened too long before Benny's bolt either. Maybe it was in the back of his mind. Who knows?
