Try and put yourself in this situation.

1) You're a well known AFL player in a 2 team town.
2) You go out to a social event and have 2 or 3 drinks in a 3-4hr period.
3) On the way home you spot a booze bus.
4) You know that you would blow an alcohol level above 0.00 but less than 0.05.

Because you are a "person of interest", would you be a bit worried as to what the media would say if you were just a tad over the limit??

I am not saying he did the right thing in doing a runner. BUT, there is such a thing as exceptional circumstances occasionally.
when you finish wiping his cum off your face, have a good hard think about what you just said.........if he did nothing wrong, he has nothing to hide. He chose to run away from a booze bus, how much worse could it be if he hung around and wasn't over the legal limit???

My god some of you Eagles supporters are stupid!!

Ohh, the intelligence in your post and the eloquency at which you express your point of view without the use of un-warranted abuse really makes me see the errors of my ways. ;)

The old "he did nothing wrong/has nothing to hide" argument doesn't apply when you are famous. Even blowing a reading of 0.02 would have him slammed in the papers, yet 0.02 is allowable.

Is there a Zero tolerance Drink Driving law in Victoria

Ditto's example may not be what actually happened but i don't think he is intimating that the scenario was fact either

No one really knows however it is as likely as any other of the myraid of theories mentioned on these boards

I think Ben just needs to improve his image via some positive media appearances. Apparently, he's been getting some advice from Glenn Milne.

Thank you Bestbird. I was starting to worry that BF posters were all like Dapperdon and not be able to objectively look at a different argument to their own and see (however slight it may be) that some validity may exist.

And you are correct, I am not saying that the scenario I put forward is fact, all I am trying to say is that things may not be as cut and dry as people like Dapperdon believe.

No way! He has done nothing wrong.
see, this is what i'm talking about. Cousins getting picked up for D&D is not a good thing, running away from Booze buses is not a good thing. Alas WC supporters are blind to see their "hero" fail at anything.

HE DID DO SOMETHING WRONG, OTHERWISE HE WOULDN'T BE PUT IN THE SLAMMER!!!!

but hey i guess it's the AFL getting the cops involved because they hate interstate teams:rolleyes:

By your logic, cops never imprison the wrong man. Interesting.

He did do something wrong, he passed out in Southbank at 4am and got chucked into the drunk tank. It's not great behaviour. But the question is whether he should be dropped to the WAFL. The answer is no. What he did was at the lowest end of criminal activity (so much so that he wasn't even charged) and occurred in the offseason. Doesn't deserve a demotion.

Hey, you might be on to something there. Check Andy D's phone records from that night. I reckon he tipped the cops off. Typical Victorian bias.

So you're saying he's an idiot?

To avoid blowing 0.02 and getting slammed in the papers he abandons his easily recognizable car and runs away, not for once thinking that this might get him slammed in the papers a tiny bit more????

By the way I think he's been very harshly treated this year. What he's done is nothing compared to Gardiner. Not in training, not involved in a car smash.

But the attention he's receiving for this trivial indiscretion is a result of his previous behaviours. Once he's got the reputation, any minor incident will be blown out of proportion to say " oh he's at it again."

Or are West Coast employers of double standards, the precedent has been set with Michael Gardiner, who was banished to the Tigers for failing to live up to the clubs expectations.

Is it not in the clubs interests in the long term, to maintain, any shred of integrity, to sentence this perrenial criminal to a stint in the WAFL, at the very least.

One has to feel for the Parents of this years draftees, they are sending there sons into an environment which breeds illegal activity and a notion that "eagles" are above the law.

If the club wants to regain its position as a credible organisation, surely Benny must be sacked, or at the very least banished until he can live up to club expectations :thumbsu:

Oh my, could you all now be demanding what I, "the Beacon" suggested months ago :thumbsu:

A blind, deaf person who had never watched a game of footy in their lives could have predicted this.......
