Worst idea around. Why would you wanna jam another 60,000 seat stadium right next to the MCG. Imagine having 60,000 flooding while 80,000 are flooding out to get on and off trains. Docklands fits perfectly being the opposite side of the CBD.The future is a stadium at Gosch’s Paddock integrated into a major Richmond Station rebuild with underground, ground level, and overpass accesses and links to that new stadium, the MCG, tennis centre, and AAMI along with Swan Street. It’s been heavily insinuated by just about everyone. 60,000, ‘open roof,’ built into the landscape.
Only logical reason is you can build it to a small 25 to 30,000 seat capacity.Question… why the heck would they want to play there??? It’s a dump
Just feels pointless in melb when you have the MCG and telstra dome.Only logical reason is you can build it to a small 25 to 30,000 seat capacity.
No disrespect to North Melbourne or saints. Them hosting vs a non Vic side and pulling 15 to 20,000 in Docklands stadium that holds 50,000 seats is ugly on tv.
You being a Geelong fan. 35,000 seats at Kardinia park and constantly sell out is good. Plus dirt cheap rent

Unless clubs want to move regional (geelong ballarat bendigo etc) its pretty much pointless.
You might as well do the same with Collingwood at Victoria Park, Essendon at Windy Hill and the Western Bulldogs at Whitten OvalI do think Carlton should be allowed a legacy match or two each year - perhaps if we go into a bit of a spiral we can ask for an annual game there. In the short term, that would be for 'tradition' but something that could at least test the waters for a longer term redevelopment.

YesDo the AFLW teams use all these grounds ?
Well Yes, but that's only because they usually have small numbersDo the AFLW teams use all these grounds ?
Parkville station is still what I would consider walking distance. How many times have we done the walk from the G to Flinders?
Possibly, but Princes Park capacity is double those and this thread is about Carlton/PPYou might as well do the same with Collingwood at Victoria Park, Essendon at Windy Hill and the Western Bulldogs at Whitten Oval
Gotta agree to disagree on that one. Depending on which gate you get out of, it's about the same as the walk from the MCG to Flinders St Station via Wellington Parade. I know the William Barak Bridge route is slightly shorter in my experience but it takes longer because of the volume of people.1.9 km from Parkville Station to Ikon Park; that's barely an "easy walk"

Not even that. 40,000 seats would be good. Even 30,000 to 35,000 seat capacity would be adequate.
I was thinking North Melbourne should play one or 2 home games up there per year considering it's in the northern suburbs.
Saints fans are wanting to have Moorabbin oval to be an AFL standard ground that holds 30,000 seats with cheap rent
Go ask saints fans.
Ask them if they want some random rich person to put in millions of dollars to turn Moorabbin oval to a 25,000 or 30,000 seat arena.
Most of them will say yes
