I think the answer to this question is quite clear here. Hawthorn as a club have more then failed to protect the health of one of their colleagues. In his hour of need rather then taking him aside and helping him through his problems they discarded him, berated him with insults and pushed him down that final rung of the ladder which led to his mental illness he has atm.

Andy D has to step aside and ask, has the actions of the Hawthorn football club been one we want to reflect on our competition. Quite frankly I believe slaves in Africa get better treatment then players do at the Hawthorn football club. The club saying goes "If your sick, then **** off and be someone elses problem". Their failure to help their players through there illnesses shows a distinct lack of character and are a massive blight on our game. They have treated their players lower then youd treat a cane toad really.

If I was the AFL id be recommending Hawthorns expulsion from the game for the next year. However Hawthorn are needed for the customary easy away win for most interstate teams. In that case Hawthorn should lose their draft picks for the next 3 years and have 8 points stripped off them over the next 2 AFL seasons. It will send a clear message that players are actualy human and may need help rather then insults

Hawthorn - Australias biggest embarassment.

Given the way West Coast has failed to "help" Cousins I am astounded you are judging Hawthorn. If Cousins was a player of lesser ability, I wonder if he would have been traded by now. Odds on he would have, such as Gardiner.

So how many years has he been on drugs? You finally acted because of all the heat WC were facing and you couldnt hide it anymore.

And why didnt you send Gardiner to rehab instead of trading him? Because hes not up to the ability of Cousins.

Q. Should West Coast be stripped of the 2006 premiership in light of their players using performance enhancing recreational drugs?

;) Gee, That was easy.:)

We traded him to another club who gave him a better deal than we could offer, hardly kicked to the curb.

Was his mental illness properly diagnosed or suspected?
I think its fair to say you knew. Plus when you tell someone their not wanted anymore there not really gonna stay

So what if we knew, nearlly every player in the league is tradeable, because he had bi polar does that rule him out of being traded, like croad and Thopmpson before him, we had him for 9 years he was getting a lot of intrest from North and we secured the best deal for him and the HFC while he had some currency left we respected his privacy. Fast forward 2 years and he has now been forced to retire, not Hawthorns fault.

Q Do we strip Hawthorn of their flags from the 80's/ early 90's due to recerational drug use as well?

Proof...

Back on topic, why should we be blammed for the Kangaroos stupidity?
Try speaking to any of the former trainers from that period and they will confirm it for you.

I can reveal more, but it would most likely get me banned so will pass on that thanks.

No.

While ethically, it can be argued, witholding our knowledge that Hay was mentally unwell was unacceptable, legally we had no obligation to reveal this fact and it was also, likely, at Hay's discretion that the matter wasn't made public.

So the question you're asking is should teams be punished in relation to the level of moral ethics they display, in this case while trading, an idea that would be hard to police I imagine.

In the long run players are payed employees and the footy clubs are the employers and these days footy is a big business. No I don't think hawthorn should be penalised because hay still made a lot of money out of his job as a footballer and it's not the hawks fault he's had mental issues but on the other hand if they knew jothan had problems they did have a duty of care to try and help the fella with counselling and if he still wasn't still up to it then they should have sat down with him worked out a way to part ways amicably.

Drugs? Was that what you said F-U? I agree, West Coast should be punished for encouraging their players to play on drugs. The handing over of the Premiership to Sydney is a start. I think the docking of Premiership points and the removal of draft picks for a couple of seasons will suffice as well.

I'm glad to see you're starting to see the West Coast drug issue how it truly is, F-U.

Michael Gardiner "cough cough" suffering depression, Atlest we gave Hay the chance to play for another club, you through Gardiner to the scrapheap.

The West coast Eagles should be thrown out of the competition, they are a homeless souless spineless fanchise sponsored by a microwaved hamburger, There brief history has been tainted with drug controversy from anabolic steroids to illicit drug taking, all premierships should be revoked and their licence cancelled, this heartless franchise club has been a disgrace to humanity since it was first created in in 87.

This club has spat in the face of our beloved game we call football, from players snorting ice, to trying to stab themselves after being dumped by a girlfriend, ditching a girlfriend in the car while running away from a booze bus, hitting a taxi driver in the face with an antenna, beating each other up, crashing a car into a tree under the influence of alcohol, forging doctors prescriptions, sleeping with your x junky captains sisters, passing out on the side walk of a public street only to get picked up by the police and get thrown into jail, having links and associating with underground crime figures.

The West Coast Eagles have turned a blind eye as long as there players are performing on field and winning premierships, The image of AFL football has been tarnished thanks to this poisoned renegade club.
