Should Hawthorn be stripped premiership points and draft picks over their treatment of Hay?

In the long run players are payed employees and the footy clubs are the employers and these days footy is a big business. No I don't think hawthorn should be penalised because hay still made a lot of money out of his job as a footballer and it's not the hawks fault he's had mental issues but on the other hand if they knew jothan had problems they did have a duty of care to try and help the fella with counselling and if he still wasn't up to it then they should have sat down with him worked out a way to part ways amicably.
Isn't that exactly what happened?

Michael Gardiner "cough cough" suffering depression, Atlest we gave Hay the chance to play for another club, you through Gardiner to the scrapheap.

The West coast Eagles should be thrown out of the competition, they are a homeless souless spineless fanchise sponsored by a microwaved hamburger, There brief history has been tainted with drug controversy from anabolic steroids to illicit drug taking, all premierships should be revoked and their licence cancelled, this heartless franchise club has been a disgrace to humanity since it was first created in in 87.

This club has spat in the face of our beloved game we call football, from players snorting ice, to trying to stab themselves after being dumped by a girlfriend, ditching a girlfriend in the car while running away from a booze bus, hitting a taxi driver in the face with an antenna, beating each other up, crashing a car into a tree under the influence of alcohol, forging doctors prescriptions, sleeping with your x junky captains sisters, passing out on the side walk of a public street only to get picked up by the police and get thrown into jail, having links and associating with underground crime figures.

The West Coast Eagles have turned a blind eye as long as there players are performing on field and winning premierships, The image of AFL football has been tarnished thanks to this poisoned renegade club.

:)
-Gardiner was given multiple chances to clean up his act, and ket ****ing up, hence we we traded him, just like how the Hawks traded Hay. Gardiner was not delisted and 'put on the scrapheap'

-Hawthorn try to claim they are a side established in the 1800's, even though they are actualyl the 5th incarnation of a team from the Hawthorn area and are just as soul less for trying to do so.

-There is no proof of any anabolic drug use at the club, only a myriad of rumours with not one player in the history of the club ever testing positive to an anabolic steroid. As for illicit drug use it's been happening at Hawthorn since the 80's, so like i said before, do we also strip Hawthorn of their premierships under the same guidelines?

-Eagles did turn a blind eye to some of the goings on at the club, but bleeive me it pales in comparison to some of the things the Hawks did in the 80's/90's with their players

As i have stated with the Crows supporters, you may not have the information to realise it, but your in a glass house yourself, and you shouldn't be throwing stones.

To a large degree the Hawks did throw Jonny Hay on the scrapheap, but as always there are two sides to every story.

Clearly, North Melbourne did no due diligence ahead of trading a 1st and 2nd round picks for Hay. Big mistake. One would have thought they would have put him through a full physical and mental check up and made some subtle enquiries behind the scenes as to his lifestyle etc. Only have themselves to blame if they didn't do this.

Of more interest to me was Hay's comments that he had a good pre-season and was actually keen to play this year to prove people wrong. Sounds to me like North pushed him due to his hefty contract and the fact it ran until the end of 2008.

I think when hawthorn found out his condition they panicked and tried to get rid of him as soon as possible but I can sort of understand that because they didn't expect this coming and by the sounds of things his life is kind of screwed up.

Should WC be stripped of their premiership for:

Illicit drug use by many players on their team,
For not disclosing that one of their traded players is about to strike out,
For giving Judd half price property to cheat the salary cap.

No but Adelaide did try to pull out the tackle box at half time in the prelim, only to discover they bought the wrong one and this one actually contained fishing gear

Is kane249 high and depressed right now? Indications point to "yes". Poor fella. And he has to pay for his own rehab as well. :( Here is a link to help you http://www.beyondblue.org.au/index.aspx?link_id=3.686. We all wish you well on your road to recovery.:thumbsu:
Ah yes, by the way how does it feel to now be in the same league as us and have one of your players come out and admit they had an illicit drug problem while at your club? ;)

Actually, pretty crappy. I hope the Hawks make an effort to help him in some way. He's welcome back at Hawthorn anytime as far as I'm concerned. And like Cousins, I hope Hay gets healthy (maybe the AFL can charter a plane for him to get to a depression clinic in the US).
As far as the same league as you, we're not even close to the West Coke Eagles when it comes to druggies.

Boy I can only dream of my boss being such an ar$ehole that he would force me to join another company, doing the same job for a 50-60% payrise.

If this is really such a big issue for all of you people what do you think about real life, where men and women aren't molly coddled by their employers, and aren't on the big bucks?

Just a couple of weeks ago 4 of my collegues were told that they weren't needed by the company anymore after May and that they should begin looking for employment else where.

I can tell you for a fact that this news was very depressing and distressing for them. It doesn't only effect them, but their spouses and children. They aren't on anywhere near $500,000 and at best they can hope to gain employment somewhere for the same or less money than what they earn now.

Our company is perfectly within its rights to do this. It makes a mokery of this "traversty" of Hawthorn trading Hay to the Roos. The man didn't have to move his home, he has earned an enourmous amount of money playing the sport and he was put on a much bigger yearly salery. And yet people still think he was hard done by?
