Should Hawthorn have won by seven points and did the umpires get it wrong (again)?

Battle kicks for goal from a free kick after the siren. It bounces through untouched. No Geelong player stands the mark (because they have already lost). The rules are:
Under AFL rules,
if a ball is kicked before the final siren (or from a free kick after the siren), it remains live until it crosses the goalline, boundary line, or becomes otherwise dead, allowing it to bounce through for a goal or behind untouched. A score is valid even if it touches the ground, provided it is not touched by another player after the siren.
Did Battle play on? Did Battle cross the mark? An explanation please AFL with video footage.

It could if ladder position came down to %.
Could be the difference between a home elimination final or a wild card final.

Hawks won’t be near a wildcard they are better than that.

Plenty of goals they shouldn’t have given up before looking at some rubbish after the siren

The umpire ruled he went round the mark off his line into an arc after the siren. Hence play on and the score was invalid.
Whether the call was correct who knows but that's why

They did that with the Dudley shot at goal at half time in the Freo v Adelaide game. Never noticed it before but they seem to be picking up on players doing a "Buddy" style kick more this year. I bet you they won't be calling it after the siren though if the result depends on it.

The weird thing with the buddy arc is you are allowed an arc provided you kick over the man on the mark. As in run an arc but finish kicking over the man in the mark. See it all the time with the snap set shots.
If you start off in line with the man on the mark than veer off its play in.
Players do the latter due to stand rule. As bybthe time ump calls play on theyve gained a metre. But after siren it's play on straight away.
Weird interpretation now. It's the first time players techniques and one in particular forced a change in rule interpretation
