Opinion Should Jonas be captain in 2019?

Just let the players vote on who they want as captain.
To my logic, it is more important, that the players want whomever & will get behind them.
Team first, self second. Is the person we need/want.

I don't mind the idea. I'd imagine it would still be Boaky though, which I'm happy about as long as the players are all with him 100%.

DBJ just came to mind too as a possible future cap. Good footy user, fun guy, pure personality, and has a little bit of mongrel.

Also I don't mind Dixon, but his accuracy would have to improve massively first.

Robbie Gray would have been interesting one to have seen as cap, but doesn't look like that will ever happen.

And grabbed the winning mark in defense. Won the game off his own foot (and hands). Total captain game. Never seen Boak do that. Top bloke and all, but there have been too many games lost due to lack of on field leadership during his tenure.

Agree , I cant honestly see Ollie being a Captain in the mould of Tredders , Wanga's , Timmy G or Cahill at the moment , now SPP or TJ or Big Dix they are the types of blokes id be looking at.

I would keep it that simple.

I don’t know who, but certainly not Boak. He did well riding the improved football department (fitness etc) from 2013 / 2014 (as per Ken). Since that raising us up from an underfunded basket case, to a normal club oppositions worried about (ie. from 2015) he’s lacked on-field leadership, now when the heat is applied.

2013/2014 we were in a not to be repeated spot, of being underrated as perceptions needed to catch up with the new funded Port reality and should not be referenced IMO. From 2015 onwards you just need to look at our record in close games. We don’t win many and the few we did, how many did Boak take the team on his shoulders and carry us to victory? Nice bloke, but Tredrea, Primus, even Wanganeen by deeds if not being so vocal as the first two did many times. Who honestly sees us down and think ‘Boak will grab the team by the scruff of the neck and pull them with him and we’ll win’? If anyone does I have a bridge to sell you.

Ollie Wines will only be 24 next year, you can definitely have good young leaders and captains, but considering where both he and we are at the moment I would prefer to give it to an older and more experienced player like Jonas for the time being and let Ollie focus on developing the weak points in his game without unnecessary distraction.

Nah. Boak has stood up and carried us over the line in plenty of games. Problem is they were all in 2013 and 2014.

He was incredible during that period. Single handily dragged 17 team mates with him on multiple occasions. Real shame he hasn't been able to do it in recent times.

A captain should lead, but you don’t want to create a rift in the team. Especially when so many players love Ken.

Also, anyone heard the Jonas to Sydney rumours. Probably doesn’t have much truth to it as he’s an SA boy but so is Polec.
