The banking royal commission missed a huge opportunity to get bickie gangs and the mafia out of wealth management. At least it shook up the banks but in typical government style, only went half way and ultimately increased box ticking, costs and power to larger organisations.

I'm waiting to see what happens to a finance organisation that breaks the conditions of their financial license... still waiting...

I'm no apologist for Setka but he is opposed by some of the most dishonest, ruthless, sons-of-bitches in the form of many of the construction giants. You either play the game tough of go under. It's been the same since the Gallagher days.

What Setka is purported to have said is beyond the pale but he has been an effective advocate for his members and whoever succeeds him - should he go - will need to be just as tough as many those on the other side of the fence are unscrupulous.
I think it's his alleged history of harrassment and domestic violence that are the issue?

ASIC are incompetent. They would crush someone for not ticking a box or some technical breach of a license.

but operating without a license or some major breach of license conditions and they will not investigate.

in short, if it's easy they will do their job. If it requires work..........they have a typical government worker mentality.

Right back where we started in 2013

Indeed. Tony Abbott lives on through the Royal Commission into rogue unions and Bill Shorten ...

Gift that will keep on giving to coalition along with stopping people smuggler boats and repudiation of the hysteria aspects of climate change.

Albo has his work cut out for him ...

A former secretary of the CFMEU who claims his 30-year union career was destroyed by John Setka has spoken for the first time about the culture of intimidation within the construction union and revealed Mr Setka’s plans for the formal takeover of southern Australia by the militant Victorian branch.

In his first interview since being ousted last year as South Australian secretary of the Construction Forestry Maritime Mining and Energy Union, Aaron Cartledge, 49, has documented the extent to which he was hounded and abused by Mr Setka, who he said would routinely describe the branch as “f..king bludgers” and “useless c..ts” in front of the national leadership.
“I would go into these meetings and he would unload, calling us weak pricks because we weren’t radical enough, didn’t strike enough or hold enough pickets, and that the best thing that could happen to the SA branch was that we could all get f..king shot,” Mr Cartledge said.

“At the same time, they started sending over these Victorian organisers and it was like an end-of-year footy trip crossed with Blazing Saddles. They just blew into town and wanted to start kicking in doors and forcing their way on to sites.”

I loathe guys like Setka but the Liberals and Labour have no place in determining his future at the CFMEU.

Let the CFMEU deal with their own issues.

The simple thing to do is to simply have no dealings with the organisation and simply expel them from the Labor party..............even if that means dissolving Labor and re-constituting.

No one should deal with criminals.
