Earlier tonight the AFL's own counsel, in attempting to get Tom Lynch found guilty said the following:

"As to (low) impact... the image shows Hurley throw his head back and immediately clutch for his throat. It has to be acknowledged he quickly looks for whether the umpire has seen this..."

Yet the AFL's own tribunal found Lynch not guilty, stating that Lynch was fending off Hurley with a forearm to the chest.

Given the not guilty verdict, and the statements from the AFL counsel and tribunal should Michael Hurley be retrospectively charged with staging?

*en oath.

Just like how Witherden probably should have been deregistered for his callous reverse headbutt of Lynch's hands as he violently lay on the ground clearly in Tom's path.

Where do you draw the line between exaggerating and staging? Grimes and Vlastuin exaggerated, so did Hurley. Grimes and Vlas got frees/50's but also fined. Hurley got nothing at all.

And then attempting to draw illegal contact by dropping your knees, lifting your elbow etc.

I think the umpires can do it themselves if the AFL stops trying to do it for them. Every year we see harder umpiring in finals. They let cheap crap go and you get tougher games for it. The umpires adjudicate accordingly to the rule of the day and when it's a big game they let plenty slide.

This should just be the new standard.

Just because there was not enough evidence to fine Lynch for high contact does not mean that there is enough evidence to say there was no high contact.

You don't charge someone for false accusation if the accused gets off.

Well that has been the rule of thumb for staging until now. No player has been done where there wasn't contact. Dangerfield in the PF just before half time is a prime example.
