So we need spend millions to tear down a worldwide recognised heritage structure and build yet another concrete stand so Adelaide Oval will look like any other stadium in the world, all so we can have 70,000 capacity to give us a chance of hosting a one off GF in case of another future pandemic where Melbourne goes into lockdown but we don't.

And assuming we’d have 100% capacity at that time.

If Adelaide Oval was at 100% capacity, we would’ve hosted the GF this year.

But Optus has the best Stadium lighting show in the Southern Hemisphere .....a point made by the Manager of the MCG, who said they just wouldn't be able to match

So what bells & whistles can we now add .....are there any lights other than the fence LCD ? ....maybe do up the Morton Bay Figs like a Christmas in July :drunk:

Adelaide Oval is still more well renown internationally than Optus.

I'm not intereated in moving it, would be happy to demolish or set it on fire.

If people want to move it to Karen Rolton Oval or Adelaide Oval #2 , go for it.

The scoreboard has no place in a stadium for AFL.

Great for cricket when not much is happening- check out the scoreboard, look at the trees, bask on the hill, admire the Cathedral.

All of this is not suitable for a winter, national sport.

This is the AFC board, what is best for the AFC is to finish the AO by building the last stand at the Northern end = more 11 game season ticket holders = more AFC revenue.

To suggest otherwise is fanciful and not in the best interests of the AFC.

I don't give 2 shits about cricket numpties lying on the grass watching the Jellybacks capitulate, the hill in rhe middle of winter in a capacity venue is ridiculous.

I don't think our current GA memberships are sold out.

Exactly... the Western grandstand can be built to the same height as the Eastern stand & widened to give more capacity.

And redeveloping the Western Grandstand would surely take the capacity to or close to 60,000 which is plenty for SA at the moment.

Won't that close off the Northern Entrance temporarily ??

Can always explore the idea of parachuting spectators into the ground. It would be an AFL first.

How about Ricciuto's effort at the 2009 grand final delivering the premiership cup...

The scoreboard is never moving unfortunately but maybe to get a few more numbers up they could build something in the NW corner of the oval. We need the capacity to at least 60K...
Only way that is possible is to build a northern stand i think

Why do you say we “need” the capacity to be 60k?

You'd think the Govt will heritage list the scoreboard .....if it isn't already
