I think the AFL should start looking at bonus points, similar to the Super 12 Competition.
Say a losing bonus point for getting within 15 points of the oppositions
And a goalscoring bonus for kicking 20 goals.
ie, If Essendon defeated Geelong 22.12 (144) - 20.14 (134)
then Essendon would get 5 points, and Geelong 2 points.
This would encourage teams to play a more exciting brand of football, in order to get the extra bonus point.
That was the reasoning the Super 12 had. For teams to get the 4 try bonus, they would have to play more exciting and attacking brand of football.
