Pretty simple question. I don’t believe any major country has formed a government of national unity in response to the crisis, although the Irish are talking about it.

However with a lot of leaders talking about their countries being on a war footing, it’s maybe something to talk about.

Do you think a unity government is necessary? Do you think adding Labor to the Cabinet would help it make better decisions, or just reduce decisiveness?

If it’s not necessary now, do you think there is a point in the future where it should be seriously considered?

Yes, the Coalition should invite them to share the blame. Labor should decline the offer for the same reason.

I use the term precedent.

When World War 2 was ravaging the world, Menzies went the War Cabinet route and invited Curtin to be a part of it. He did decline but suggested that 3 of his shadow cabinet would be included.

The way it went was the Advisory Council, with the Cabinet plus Curtin and 3 others on it. When Curtin became PM, he took over that council.

Menzies wanted to form a "War Coalition" but Curtin and the ALP didn't want a bar of that and told Menzies that he and the UAP were the Government and he had to lead but in an intelligent move, Curtain entered into an Advisory War Council.

Menzies, like Morrison, was a useless prick and it all got a bit too complex for him and he resigned and told the GG to swear in John Curtin as the Prime Minister.

He slunk off, watched the intelligent men of the ALP govern Australia through the second world war, watched as the ALP reconstructed Australia which put us 25 years in front of every other nation on earth and then, the viper came back and used the "reds-under-the-beds/stop-the-boats" tactic, to scare his way into power where he sat around in gentlemen's clubs and attended all the soirées for the next two decades and rode on the ALP's back whilst the ALP and the morons of the Catholic Church, engaged in civil war.

No! you are completly wrong

Doubt they will - they are already ramping up the politically focused moves along with their dickhead mates at the Australian (e.g. Inquiries into Super Fund Liquidity). What a shocker that when you encourage people to take $10k out of their super because you're too pissweak to lead yourselves there might be liquidity issues, particularly in the industry funds which support more low income workers.

If they're going to continue to play ideology in this Labor needs to return the favour with interest.

Their Ideology has quickly changed from a bunch of LNP 'dries' following Murdochology & IPAology.

Now following ALPology from the GFC. Basic Keynesian ology.

They are totally compromised by their last 12 yrs of attacking ALP policy of that time.

LNP, a bunch of fakes!!! Now the nations biggest ever socialist party. ;)

While it would be good to see both sides working together, why would labor want to support the coalition, when they absolutely bullied them pillar to post regarding spending for the past 13 years, now that the shoe is on the other foot. Be like suddenly becoming friends with the school bully after being abused for years.

And aren't the Labor faithful up and about over this mere suggestion! Which is why it wont work. That is sad and you need look no further to identify the origins of the toxic partisanship that has crippled Australia post the John Howard era.

While this thread is about Krudd, you can’t deny the accuracy of this post. It is a disgrace that the LNP have shut down the country and put it on a stimulus life support. 2000 people have died this year from the flu and we destroy the country over a virus with 21 deaths at an average age of 82. Police State here we come.

Who do you vote for now then? ;)

The ultra conservative, social Darwinist types must be apoplectic right now.

They demand we see bodies in the street. They see it as 'the natural way' society & economies evolve & strengthen.

Of course that's ok as long as they survive & they have money to survive economically. Most of the 1%ers would thrive if left to the 'Darwinist' approach

Neoliberalism is dead. Killed by the natural reality of the desire of people to live. Survival first, health, food & a roof, then worry about wealth later on.

The political right are in for a lot of explaining to do after all this. !!!!!
