The WAFC would lose money from playing at the WACA
Presently both Freo and Eagles are effectively too big for Subiaco - so, to consider the WACA or the like as a replacement during the WC means there'll be a compensation claim no matter what.

LIkewise in Adelaide for the Crows in particular if the best alternative is AAMI Stadium reduced to 15,000 capacity after the Adelaide Oval rebuild.

IF it were only for the 4 weeks of WC competition, not too big a deal. Run 2 split rounds, Port get home games and Crows don't. Ensure Syd/GWS host home matches at SCG/RAS, and Brissie/GCFC host up at the Gabba and all that, etc etc.

It's those 4 weeks leading in that are the killer. Are the Eagles/Freo and Crows unable to play a 'financial' home match for 2 full months mid season? It completely rrrrr'ses up the fixture for those clubs.

What? the pretty colours of the light show.

Alas - when a supposed feature of the venue are the foundations to allow expansion to 50,000,

and then a roof (functional or otherwise in non-core ways) is built that effectively ensures that the venue will never be expanded.........does that really tick the box???
You should watch the Build It Bigger documentary on Melbourne Stadium, then you would have a real appreciation for the function that the roof performs. It is truely state of the art and quite amazing compared to the convential stadium designs.

Not too sure why they future proofed the foundations when they would have had a pretty good idea that they would never be able to realisitically (time or money wise) expand the ground. Probably done more as a move to keep people happy that the option was always there.

My view was to build the room in for the extra capacity, just not put the seats in till the exclusion deal with Etihad was over, then the next day install 10,000+ seats.

Having said that, I love AAMI park the way it is. Best venue in Australia. :thumbsu:

Back on to the topic.... no chance the MCG would be off the venue list. Suncorp won't be able to be extended by another 12,000 to get the venue to the reuqired size. Can't see them playing a semi in the new Perth Stadium.

They will be playing a semi in Perth for timezone reasons
Thought about the time zone issue and while Perth does offer the option to play at 830 local time 1030 est. The only issue is that they like go have a consistent kick off times so the viewers get a stable viewing experience.
