The game was invented by indigenous folk though, that should always be celebrated. I don't think Barcelona or Liverpool has indigenous natives anyway and Miami is an American/Indian name

One of the interesting things about the AFL and name changes for this round is that Doug Nichols most likely had an Aboriginal name.

Fairly wild assumption. His parents are Herbert Nicholls and Florence Atkinson. Its the name of his birth certificate and he did not initiate. (as was common at the time)

Garry Hocking changed his name by deed poll to "Whiskas" as part of the Geelong Football Club promotion with the company.

Perhaps the club could ask past and present indigenous players, staff, committee members and members what they would like us to do on this matter; and the rest of us throw our support by their decision.

I can give you direct input from 17 Aboriginal members.

been mentioned a few times, and like the idea, rather than place - local indigenous word for magpie.

I feel, Collingwood FC is more than a local place - more like a national team - and magies are everywhere is Aus - like our supporters
