Name 1 brand or coorporation that changes their name for a special cause, any cause, any cooproation, on earth.

If virtually not a single one does, out of millions of companies, apart from AFL clubs on indigenous round, have you ever thought... hmmm... why could that be? Just think for a second.

Do you like Barcelona, Miami Heat or Liverpool would change their names for 2 weeks of the season? If not, why?
The game was invented by indigenous folk though, that should always be celebrated. I don't think Barcelona or Liverpool has indigenous natives anyway and Miami is an American/Indian name

It’s patronising to Aboriginal people.

If you want to make a statement do it for every week not just two.

i don't think it is close to patronising to Aboriginals. Every Aboriginal I know thinks it would be a significant statement.

Garry Hocking changed his name by deed poll to "Whiskas" as part of the Geelong Football Club promotion with the company.

Perhaps the club could ask past and present indigenous players, staff, committee members and members what they would like us to do on this matter; and the rest of us throw our support by their decision.

I can give you direct input from 17 Aboriginal members.

A definite “no” from me. I’m all in for for treating people with respect, equally and giving a hand up where needed, but I support Collingwood - not an aboriginal version of it.

It wouldn’t be about anything you posted.

I like the idea but I think it would be impractical given there are so many inner city football clubs who would have the same Aboriginal nation as their name.
been mentioned a few times, and like the idea, rather than place - local indigenous word for magpie.

I feel, Collingwood FC is more than a local place - more like a national team - and magies are everywhere is Aus - like our supporters

How is this post still going ?
The answer is in the poll.
Someone has an agenda with repeat posts to keep this thread going.
