With this year being perhaps the longest off season on record Im beginning to think it might be a good idea to have football all year round, we all seem so hungry for it.

I am not suggesting the AFL players should play all year round, they probably play long enough so that is fine. My suggestion would be to have a womens league during the offseason. The women could wear some nice tight shorts and guernseys that could show off some of their best assets. Each of the 16 clubs would be represented so we can all barrack hard all the way through the offseason. Just imagine those sweaty women out there, it would be great.

Woops! Bad thought. Quite often we do see those really ugly women out from Footscray, yuck! Oh well I suppose one really ugly team won't put us off completely.

Love to hear everyones thoughts.

I like the way the season runs at the moment.

The only problem with having footy all year round would be that no other sport events could be shown as often. 1 or 2 t.v. channels would have continually operate the footy games. Other sport events would lose masses of viewing because spectators would be more interested in the footy as it is the main game of Australia.

Eventually you would be either totally addicted to it and get nothing else done or get totally sick of it and turn off for life!

The thought of all-year footy is apalling. The season is already far too long. I've been enjoying this longer-than-usual off-season.

Anyone who's hanging out for the footy season to begin is badly in need of a life.

I WISH! not for the women's footy coz thats just an excuse for the guys to excersice their eyes and hands... but i wish normal footy season was on for the whole year only i know that its not fare on the players who are dying for a break which they deserve so much! i hate off season but thinking about it i guess off season just heats u up more and more until u just cant wait. if footy was on for the whole year than it wouldn't be as much have. u need to have something to look forward to!

you might not like it... but i really don't care!
GO THE MIGHTY DEMONS!!! :)

NO !!! We definitely need a 6 month break between seasons, besides who would go to the footy in summer when they are plenty of other wonderful things to do in the summer months.

No to the main question. The football would gradually get slow and boring mainly as a result of injuries and financial problems. Less people would attend the matches because of social committments and boredom.

If you wanna see chicks in summer Scott u go to the beach, u know that big place with all that white and blue stuff. If women played footy they would be all buff and buff women aint good looking women!

I'll be the one who votes yes.
What about a league for development & delisted players leading up to the draft ?
Players who want to continue could do so(i.e Kelly who missed most of the season).
With lights everywhere a summer league could be a chance particularly mid week at suburban grounds with low costs to run.
This type of league may actually help the state leagues get more relevant as big brother is not active.
