Thought it would be a good time to ask, we are half way through the "08" season now and we are 3w/6L/1D and in wallaces fifth year as coach!!!!

I think now is a good time to be asking weather he has what it takes to take richmond to the next level?

I mean, i believe he has steered us in the right direction in the sense of building a good team, i think the guys we have now have to be the best group i have seen for a long time but i am not conviced Wallace is capable of turnign these guys into winners!!!

Also is it even Wallace? we can't blame the coach for everything it's just we have all been waiting for so long now for a successfull richmond side, could it be that these kids still need time to develop more and gain confidence?

I gonna say i would give him one more chance and give him 2 more years after that if there's no improvement, BYE BYE!!!!!

A. We ain't a good team.
B. He's "built a team" using the likes of Kingsley, Graham, Hyde, Tivendale instead of selecting youngsters.
C. Give him 10 more years.

Wait till the end of 09 to decide he's fate.

After 10 rounds last year we were 0-10

after 10 rounds this year we are 3-1-6 thats an improvement

Win another 4-5 games this year and maybe finals next year and he's safe, no finals and he's gone.

players showed no accountability.

Terrys biggest mistake of late was the re-inclusion of bowden and petofile at a time when our youth were enjoying playing without the confinements of poor senior leadership and ultimately showing some pride, based on what they alone have brought to the club.

A coaching change might do the trick to get better performance out of some of the younger players who have coasted for long periods. they any savior their senior experience a lot more and not take it for granted.

Its the players fault we lost today. The skills they showed were a disgrace. What can a coach do when his players cant hit the target half the bloody time.

I thought 11 rounds was halfway through a season, considering there are 22 rounds in a season.

Seems like someone is "just" asking the question because we had a big loss.

If we don't EASILY make the 8 in 2009.......Wallace should be 'retired'.
Yes and no deliberate.
If we have a good year and win 12 but miss out on percentage and we have had a few close losses and we have had all the kids playing then he should stay.
But if we have a year that we win 5-8 games and there has been a few thumpings along the way then I agree.... Wallace should be retired.
Good to see that you are giving him till the end of 2009 and screaming for blood at now or at the end of the year.
I would hate to see the club payout his contract with no return, and a new coach on big dollars.

No....we must have an even year in 2009.
If we miss out on percentage based on some wins and multiple big thrashings, we will still have a problem with being consistent and Wallace should have been able to iron that out after 5 years. I'd rather us consistently lose close games (cause noarmally they are a toss of the coin), then win x amount and get spanked in other games. That would add up to 5 wasted years, and no different from past failing Richmond sides.

Wallace either saves his own skin with physically measurable progress, or he's gone. I'm tired of wishing upon a star.

you do realize that he took over the job from my personal fav coach of all time D. Frawley:mad::thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:......and the mess that he left us in it has taken TW 4-5 years to turn the list and players around to get us to a point where we are looking towards the future positively ie. being a contender in 3-4 years

any change of coach would be very detrimental as it would be a new coach with a new idea of how we should play, pre conceived ideas of players and ideas of who to trade for....all of which affects the list..so we go back to where Terry started 4 years back
i agree if in 3 years time we are no closer than hes out of here....TW's "chance" as many people have said as a coach starts as of NOW...he's gotten us to an even keel now its time to power forward

Wait until the end of the year atleast...unless some awesome coach becomes available like Mick Malthouse or Mark Williams.

Haven't you heard Spud-regal say that he is no longer accountable for the Richmond list. They've had long enough to put right the wrongs that he instigated.

Danny Frawley, St.Kilda Team of the Century, Richmond ex-coach in denial.

But back to the topic at hand, if Wallace keeps playing the old brigade ahead of the the guys who we will build around, for the sake of saving his job, he isn't the right man for our long term future.

Yes, we would be mad to get rid of him and pay out the contract. It isn't that he is not developing the players in to a good group, its just that some times they just don't turn up to play as per yesterday, they seem to be mentally weak more than physically, we have matched it with the bigger sides this year so far.
Although patience is starting to wear thin, we are a way better side than what we showed, which is disapointing, I never expected to us to be challenging for a flag due to the previous list problems we had, but FFS we should at least be competitive!!

I dont think we have to make the finals next season for Terry to be safe. Lets Just give the kids games and the results will soon come.

Let's not go down the route of coach sackings again as it hasn't got us anywhere in the past 25 years. Let Terry fulfill his contract then let's see.

We need a new culture rather than being perceived as a club that eats its own. Hopefully, when it will be time to replace Terry, we can attract a coach of high calibre as they can be confident that during hard times they will be given a chance rather than booted out at the earliest opportunity. Frankly who would have wanted to come to Richmond with their history of coach sackings. For example remember how Tony Jewell was booted out after th 1981 season despite being the premiership coach the year before!!!

and wasn't it on display yesterday:o Our senior 'leaders' give us absolutely nothing when its really needed and it's hard to sit and watch listless performances as a supporter. What makes it worse is that we have seen that punting those responsible was in no way detrimental to the side. Surely you're aware of this Terry?
