You seem to forget our list is woeful - we just got beaten by Port Adelaide FFS.

Why do we always draft "what might be" instead of "what is". Classic case Morton, (might be a gun - 100% dud).

Wow, so harsh all round. If an amazing deal came along from, say, Richmond... I would be open to letting the big Rush go. Would have to be well overs though.

Of course if another team offered something amazing we'll take it but we shouldn't be actively seeking a trade.

Martin has stepped up but anyone considered Jamar being influential on and off the field to his rise.

Jamar looks to be topping the hit outs to advantage and has presence around the ground so I'm really not seeing how he is an overrated ruckman.

We need senior players to stand up. Jamar has stood up.

To think of trading the Russian is just plain ludicrous.....and dumb. OK, so he's had a year from the bottom drawer....but I reckon he has some pride and he will have a big 2012.

He was all Australian in 2010 don't forget.

Also, if you trade Jamar ....wel you may as well trade Beamer.

Those two at their best together make a great combination.

Apart from Dunny having put in well enough this season certainly, IMO, for any thought of delisting not to be justified (and I doubt we'd get much from a trade for him either, certainly not enough to be worth doing) Green was All-Australian last year, for goodness sake.

And Aussie at his best is more than just another player in our team. He has the ability to lift our playing group to another level, as he showed especially against Freo & Brisbane in '08.

Plus any serious thoughts of trading/delisting Aussie will result in me going to the mattresses and firing off all manner of artillery in his defence, getting thoroughly medieval on anyone who stands in my way...

In my opinion we are better off with Martin as our starting first ruck and let Gawn back him up. Yes Gawn is young and is still developing but he has played some seniors this year and will have the benefit of another pre-season. I don't disagree that Jamar is a very good player, I just think his ruck work often puts us under the pump. He needs to come up with something other than protecting the drop of the ball and flipping it behind him. We get smashed in the clearances week in week out. Yes we have got some young onballers but that does not excuse us getting flogged in the middle every week. Moloney is not young, neither is Sylvia.

I think Gawn is a great prospect but he's a few years off. He just finished growing, is now bulking up and is still adjusting to his body and AFL. Unfortunately, with young rucks and our record there's a greater chance than not he'll be injured in the next couple years. If Martin went down too that would be the ball game. Planning around no injury to the rucks in the next few years won't work.

I'm not against changing things up but the way I look at it is you that is suggesting we do things the same. Cutting our senior players and bringing in more kids is what we've done the past few years. We need stability in the team. You're suggesting we cut Green, Davey, Jamar and Rivers. Sure, drop them from their leadership roles and make them work for their spots in the team. I'd happily have Boomer or Trengove captain with a younger leadership group. Just hacking away and cutting back loyal players won't help the team overall.

Can't wait to get a new coach in there.

Yeah they are all good points. I would just love to see us get a quality small forward. Trading the Russian is probably not the best way of doing it.

God I hope we get Malthouse, for next year too, not 2013.

I wouldn't shoot the OP down with vitriol as his idea of trading whilst Jamars value is at it's highest is at least constructive but the value of it ultimately falls over rather quickly given we already have a distinct lack of experience, size and strength within our team not to mention he'd be in our top 5 most important players at the moment.

i like the idea here as well. i think if gawn was 1 or 2 years on in his developement this would be a good move. jamar is far too crucial atm though.
