Should we trade Warnock?

dont see why we'd trade either Morton or Warnock.

Dont subscribe to the theory that Warnock, Rivers, Garland & Frawley all cant play in the same side, as Garland & Frawley match up equally well on smalls.

Morton, i know we've been waiting for him to bulk up... but it has to happen eventually, he will be a very good player.

We have a good list... it just needs to mature, the only real place we lack is a strong backup for Jamar, and a KPF which we are hoping Watts grows into

Same old scenario, unless we receive an offer too good to refuse then he's a keeper. At this point in time a required player.

Warnock did himself no favours in todays game. Schulz of all players made him look second rate. Should find himself finishing the year at Casey. Any takers for Warnock after todays game??? We'll take what we can for him...

Had a bad game today but i thought he was pretty good earlier in the season.

For who? Pick 73. He will be known as a great player for the casey scorpions that is it. Today showed why Dean Bailey didn't bring him in after every good game he plays for casey because he simply isn;t up to the standard. Got belted by a average full forward.

I was calling for us to look at a trade for him last season... Not because he's no good, but because we could afford to lose him, and we'd get something decent for him... Still believe this. I think the writing is on the wall that Stef Martin isn't a forward, but he showed plenty as a backman, and would like to see him return down back...

That gives us the depth we need. Frawley, Rivers, Garland, MacDonald, Martin, McNamara. You could get away with playing any 3 of those in the one side and still having a solid defence once you bring in your Bartrams and Grimeys...

Hawks would be the perfect match for mine, and I'm sure that there would be other clubs interested...

I think he would be getting pretty frustrated playing for Casey, especially given that there are probably 4 or 5 clubs who he could basically walk straight into. If we can hang onto him I would prefer to, but given the opportunities out there for him, we might find it hard to keep him, depends on how loyal he is.

If we can get one of Carltons ruckman, or Roughy, or even a high first draft pick in some kind of deal (logistics later) for him then it would be worth it IMO.

I wasn't trying to suggest it would be a straight swap for any of those things, hence the "logistics later" in brackets. But if a deal started with Warnock to get any one of those things then we should definately consider it.

Unless it's a first round pick (which is obviously impossible for Warnock) or a best 22 type KPF then we won't trade him.

Im with Dez, he wont go anywhere (if melbourne wants him) unless we are given something for him, he is a demand for other clubs therefore they will pay higher than they would otherwise.

To Carlton and Hawthorn supporters, I dont see a lot of defender positions opening in trade week if you want him you have got to pay for him.

I like Warnock as a pure defender but i hate him when he has the ball in his hands. The Port game aside he has hardly been beaten when he has played. His problem is his use of the ball/decision making. An example of him letting us down in this area is in the drawn game against the Pies where late in the game, instead of going long up the line he decided to kick the ball 15 metres to a one on one contest. The ball was turned over and Collingwood scored. I also agree that Martin is a backup option for us in defence but he certainly isn't a ruckman or a forward.

I don't think we really have to worry about trading to get more draft picks as more draft picks will probably not fit in with the way we are developing. I think we have to identify our needs now and go hard to get what we need. IMO we probably need one key forward and possibly a back up ruckman. We have to be realistic about what we would get if we traded him and IMO I don't think it would be as much as what people think. As an example we might be able to get a Beau Dowler, a second round pick etc.

I think we should look to trade Jones and our first round pick for a key forward. Could we get a Gumbleton, Hurley, Taylor Walker in a trade involving these two players?

Spot no with your points about Warnock and his ability (or lack off) with the footy is why he isn't getting a game.

Clubs will not give up the likes of Hurley or Walker or Gumbleton for Jones and first round pick. The players you mentioned will be very good players particularly Hurley, theres to much in drafting another kid who may turn out to be no good.

Warnock + 3rd rounder for Dowler + 2nd rounder OR Warnock + 3rd rounder for Hampson or Jacobs + 2nd rounder.

I believe Warnock is a better player than Dowler/Hampson/Jacobs so we would need to upgrade a pick for the trade to be worthwhile.

I don't know why anyone would even suggest we trade Morton.

I guess some people are just very impatient or alternatively expect high draft picks to set the world on fire straight away. Morton showed a lot last seasson but had a set back this year in the pre season which hurt him for the whole season. He will be a good player for us (starting next year) for years to come.

How does he go as a CHB?

He strikes me as more of a FB, but I havent seen that much of him.

We have Jamison at FB so we are more in need of a CHB.

IMO he is purely a full back. He would be more suited to a team like the Pies (when Presti retires) who have the skill set in the backline to be able to carry Presti when the ball is in their hands. For us he doesn't work out because we are already protecting players like Rivers and Bartram from using the ball too often and in dangerous situations. We can't really carry Warnock as well.

Could Jamison play any other position apart from full back? I know he is pretty good on both smalls and talls so maybe he could play somewhere else in the backline.

]yeah, we'll take him.. deal done, i'll notify the clubs[/quote]

Well done big sexc, got him for nothing as well. :thumbsu: Why should Carlton be involved anyway, they'll just screw themsevles. :D
