Shoulder arthroscopy

I've just been told that I need a shoulder arthroscopy, in particular, a sub-acromial decompression.

Has anyone had any experience of this?

I'm very nervous and worried about the actual procedure and hearing all sorts of horrendous reports of the rehab so any information or suggestions you can give me to put my mind at ease would be greatly appreciated.
