first thing first ....... our forward set up was a shocker,
Ayers was out-coached tonight, why did McGregor stay up forward? Surely he has been our number 1 chb all year, why not swing him onto old wobble head, then move Smart onto Cornes and throw Perrie up forward- at least Perrie was marking the ball!

What happened to Stevo? Was he Injured? Ayers certainly believed in his game plan because he didn't try all that much,

I must admit I really dislike showdowns, for some reason the Crows seem to try to play a different style of footy and in all honesty it was a really crap, boring Port style game.

When will we see the Crows play to their own game plan and not try to match the Powers crap style of Footy?

anyway
best on ground
5. Johnc ock - anly player to give a real 4 qtr performance
4. Bickley - not afraid to get the hard ball, didn't use it all that well
3. Burns - only forward to come close to a reasonable game, very clean with the ball- kicked 3 set up a couple
2. Bode - did try hard
1. Hart - very reliable

best team man

3. Johnc ock
2. Bassett( until dealt to)
1. McGregor - tried hard up forward, deserved a chance at chb

Rookie
Mattner tried hard and did o.k after 1st quarter

I'd also like to know why showdowns of late degenerate into a complete scrap. It's very frustrating to watch.

What happened to all these tricks Gary was going on about during the week? Its 3 hours after the match and i still cant think of one. He certainly got out coached tonight. At least Marks tricks worked.

Maybe you should stop living in 1998 and watch a Port game from the last two years.

The 2nd quarter was horrible to watch at the ground.
Skill wise from both sides all night was pretty crap. Dunno why because you couldnt ask for better conditions for a football match. Absolutely no wind until the last quarter (and even then you could hardly call it a wind) and was reasonably warm. Maybe nerves had the best of both teams tonight.

sorry mate , but Port games are sooooo boring to watch, it doesn't help that I hate all the Port players , but I have to admit their game plan certainly does win games so well done!

Out- played, out-coached, & lost the mind games,

When our captain gives away 3 stupid frees in the first 15 min 2 of which resulted in goals for the paps i knew we was in for a hard night, no matter which way we di-sect the game those bloody paps have got the wood on us even their lessor lights rise up for the occasion, they showed a lot more discipline & flooded back when we had the ball & then ran over our guys when coming out of defense, Brogan won the rucks for most of the night & why the heck we look for Clarke when kicking out has me beat we might as well aim for Body at least he wouldn't drop his head,

POTY

5 = G Johnco*k, can hold his head up high

4 = M Bickley, tried his guts out & kept his cool all night

3 = R Burns, the surprise packet for me our only forward who put in
2 = T Stenglein, done a pretty good job on Stevens

1 = M Bode, at least he tried

BTM

3 = M Bickley
2 = T Stenglein
1 = N Smart

Rookie

2= M Mattner,

Now we have to put up with Pap crap for a while longer, life just isn't fair at times:(

To be honest we deserved to lose by some 5-6 goals. Port were much more determined, harder at the ball and wanted it a whole lot more than Crows. If I was Ayers Mark Ricciuto would not have been back on the ground. He didn't show any qualities that you would expect from a captain. Overall a p*ss weak performance from the Crows. Hell we played better against the Saints

I thought the same Stiffy a five goal margin would have been what we deserved & the Roo has to have a look at himself in the mirror  & even though when he came back on & played ok to me that first free kick he gave away set the tone for his mind-set,

Sorry but like tj said his delivery skills leave a lot to be desired just to many "important turn-overs" which killed us

BOG
5. Stiffy - Lucky West End medalist IMO from C Cornes but gave 100% effort & plenty of rebound (which is why he got burnt a little by P Burgoyne when the ball was turned over).
4. Burns - Looked switched on early & was our only decent forward.
3. Edwards - Our best midfielder IMO as at least he uses the ball well. Also, kicked accuractely for goal.
2. Bickley - Got plenty of the ball, laid plenty of tackles & did the hard stuff as usual.
1. Bode - Like Bicks did plenty of the hard work in the clinches, got plenty of the ball & ran hard all night.

BTM
3. Stiffy - Left his opponent numerous times to help put team mates & laid plenty of tackles.
2. Stenglein - For keeping N Stevens quieter than normal.
1. Bickley - Wish all our midfielders gave 100% effort like him

BR
Nil, as Mattner looks out of form.

1- Gallagher (I honestly dont think he played that badly)

POTY

5: Johnc.ck - Was explosive, fearless, athletic and put in for all 4 quarters. If he can polish his disposal we have a potential superstar on our hands.
4: Burns - Rockin' Ronnie showed glimpses of what he can do for us when he's in the mood. Quick, skilful and an absolute handful.
3: Smart - While Warren won the contest overall, Nigel is almost 34 and simply isn't a key position player. Was asked to do a big job and answered by running and contesting well with the best CHF in the comp.
2: Bode - Tried hard. Not enough support from his much vaunted colleagues.
1: Carey - I expect some howls of derision but Wayne gets a vote because in spite of everything:...

*the service into the forward line was third-rate

*the forward line was always congested which negated his ability to lead or contest one-out on a regular basis

*he still looks to be lacking full match fitness

... he still presented, tried hard all night and never let his head drop.

Which is more than can be said for some of his other team-mates on the night or certain AFC forwards of the past who had a tendency to hide when things were tough.

TTM

3: Johnc.ck - See above.
2: Smart - See above.
1: Bickley - Tried hard.

At 23 and a half and in his third season of AFL football does JG qualify as a rookie?

No, Gags does nto qualify.

Anyone who voted for Edwards wasn't watching the same game as me. His worst game for the club in a long time. His effort agaisnt Wangans int he marking contest on the wing was a classic exampl of his night. Anyway

5 Johnc ock - was awesome all night.

4 Bode - best midfielder by a country mile - never stops trying

3 Burns - great attack on the ball and our only forward line option

2 Stenglein - excellent job on Stevens

1 Hart - all class again

Team Man

3 Basett - does the team things and never plays for his own stats

2 Stiffy

1 Stenglein

Hard night to give votes Jars as all players stuffed up at various stages & we didn't have many winners. I gave Edwards votes as he generally used the ball OK & kicked 2 crucial goals. Each to their own. Most people obviously agree with you as he is out of the top-5 voting.

I tend to agree that Edwards had an ordinary one. I was surprised to see some rated his performance. One BF Port supporter thought he was better than Johncock?! Looking at the stats in today's paper he was high in the disposals, but I don't think too many of them were quality.

Also, I might give votes after all, now that I've calmed down somewhat. :p
