Review Showdown 59

Of all the things to do as ruckman when you're a kick up and a minute to go, hitting the ball into space would be ranked #998 out of #1000. Its literally what the Crows would've been trying to do.

Surely they had a conversation as a group beforehand to plan what to do?

One of the stupidest things I've seen in some time given the context of the game.

I’m not a boomer champ, why are you following a sporting organisation hoping they lose. Losers attitude
Your lack of comprehension skills are absolutely astounding. I’m genuinely impressed with how confidently you misunderstand things.

I’d tell you to read through my posts again, but I don’t think that’s the issue here.

We were the better team for all but a patch of 5 minutes?

Huh?

They smashed us in territory

We were lucky to even come close. We were efficient early , yes. The better side , no.

It’s actually like the first showdown last year but in reverse, Rozee and Boak spraying their kicks for the match winner and wasting the inside 59s racked up

Actually amazing how we continually lose these games. Like with luck and variance you would think we would win at least one

Explain that, logically. Perception is not fact.

It was a 1 point margin.
I dont understand how you cant see it. Blinded by bias.

They had +21 inside 50s. The Crows are not a high I50 team. We are. Our transition from D50 to F50 and our ability to stop the oppo was apparently why we have lifted the last few weeks.

Instead, they controlled territory all night. They stopped our ball movement, forced us into old school hinkleyball. Panicked bombs and hack kicks, and plenty of long down the line which they just cut off and rebounded at will. They turned the game into the scrap, broke even against our midfield in the clearances despite a sizeable advantage we had in hit outs. Really had we not been the benficiary of a handful of really poor umpiring calls and had they not missed or fumbled so many opportunities they would've won by much more.

This is fact, not perception.

The coaches will go away from that and be happy we stuck in the fight but they'll know the Crows played that game on their terms.

That was a disappointing performance on many levels.

Thats not a second string Crows side you troll.

They're nearly full strength. Keane for Borlase is a nothing change when Borlase is allowed to scrag just as much as Keane does.

Its just Dawson and Fogarty that's missing.

****ing second string side? Thats more like what we're rolling with injury.

whats more comical is the sanfl curtain raiser where we had like 9 afl players (half spuds) and 13 top ups and at one point we were like 50 points up while they had more than half a squad of afl players in theirs. Theyve gone all in with recruiting anb petaling cumming and maley while were bottoming out but have cochrane pilot and salopek on the radar and if our list management team can pull a couple strings out of a butters trade and we end up with a one or two or three top 20 picks at the same time i much rather play the long game with our future then barely scrape the 8 as theyre doing right now

Lost it in the 2nd & 3rd quarters where our midfield completely disappeared causing our back half to be placed under constant immense pressure. If it wasn’t for AA & the Crows fumbling, the game would have been well & truly over.

JHF looked like he was labouring out there and we just don’t have the depth to cover his usual output.

Just lacked any genuine run & carry throughout most of the contest.

Burgoyne had a shocker, Mackinlay took a step back, & Farrell just has to get involved more. Wehr was the best of all of them, which says a lot.

Marshall literally handed the Crows the lead in the 3rd qtr through his inability to stick with his direct opponent. The thought of Tood & Luko in the same team is a thing of nightmares.

If Vis’s marking game doesn’t improve, he’ll have a short AFL career.

Rozee’s obviously a big out, but what this team really needs is a fit & firing SPP. We look so much better when he’s up & running.

Spot on Sweet had every right to do that if we were down by 5 points, absolute brain fade under pressure AGAIN

Crows don't have much talent but what they do seem to get right is being competitive all game and having more composure than us in these games. We are mentally piss weak and have been forever.

So obviously with your logic you’re miserable as **** when we win

It's quite simple. You pointed out several things they did better than us. No argument there. And yet we found a way to almost win in the last minute, and lose by a point. So we clearly did a lot right. I haven't poured over the stats, but the scoreboard doesn't lie. You can't get any more black and white fact than the final score.

So no, we were not outplayed all night. That's pure hyperbolae.

When we are under pressure, Marshall is the only one who can hit the kicks through the middle.

I'm guessing Toby Murray was there for a specific job on Marshall. Hard to tell. Marshall basically took a few kick-ins and that was it.

One thing I noticed is I thought our ball movement was far more stagnant than against Hawthorn and Geelong. Less use of the corridor and less risk taking.
It actually wasn't that bad until somewhere before half time they start kicking to the contest on the wings instead of finding targets. I expected the coaches would talk to them and they would be back to strategic kicking when they restarted, but it just continued after that, except perhaps for a bit near the end.

Sweet made a mistake at the end but overall I'm happy with what he is bringing the last few weeks. He has a real physical presence. Playing some good football under Josh.
I don't necessarily blame just Sweet either

The mids and the ruckman would have a series of set plays that they'd discuss before each centre clearance.

They all chose very very poorly
