Another thing watching the last 5 minutes is that we didn't obviously look like we had a plan to kill the ball but the whole entire passage from Rankine kicking the ball into the forward line, two Crows taking massive jumps, the Crows player at the top of the 50 and the winger ready to kick the goal all seemed very rehearsed.

Yeah was a big stuff up by Sweet but could also point out the crows ruck and say why didn't he try and bang it forward himself. Hate seeing that free for Rankine. I honestly don't believe that's a free and its contesting the ball or trying to reach for it. Play on. Bad call.

Is that on Carr or Lobbe as ruck coach? Or just Sweet not knowing or panic.. You'd think runners would have been out and Sweet and mids would have spoke about it before the ball up. Terrible decision though and just put more panic on Port players and not so much crows players. Too many mistakes though after that by experienced players unfortunately.

Come to think of it, a centre bounce with less than a minute of time left would have been a great opportunity for our leadership group to make sure everyone was switched on and ready to play out our “end of a close game” strategy.

And see where the umpire is positioned. If he’s watching the play, Drew and JHF are in his direct line of vision and just a few metres away, clearly being illegally held. He’s seen obvious frees, but chosen not to pay them.

This happened several times in the last few minutes of the third quarter, keeping our defence under constant pressure until the dam finally broke and we conceded 3 or 4 late goals that made the critical difference.

Not sure it's a brain fade. These type of things happen too often with our ruckmen. Long for the smarts of a Lade or Primus. Brogan played smarter & he was a basketballer.

I did see a crowd angle and there is a chance he tried to tap it down but ended up kind of hitting it into their rucks rising fist, if that makes sense.

We could be not giving their ruck enough credit perhaps

If not it's completely inexplicable as we were absolutely set up to kill it on the inside.
