And sometimes the ball bounces at right angles.
Right angles, Tim!
James Hird even pointed out the lack of awareness by Port in the 40 seconds of the game.
Yes, hes been there too longLobbe is the ruck coach, that may explain a few things.
I think if any of them knew how to play it, they would have gone about it very differently. Nobody had any idea.Is that on Carr or Lobbe as ruck coach? Or just Sweet not knowing or panic.. You'd think runners would have been out and Sweet and mids would have spoke about it before the ball up. Terrible decision though and just put more panic on Port players and not so much crows players. Too many mistakes though after that by experienced players unfortunately.
Peatling holding either Hornet or Butters most of the game. Never gets called.
Wines and Drew would have known and they were in there. Especially Wines... Makes no sense. And they were set up in a way to cause stoppage. Just a brain fade by Sweet I think at the end of the day.. Big one too.I think if any of them knew how to play it, they would have gone about it very differently. Nobody had any idea.
I bet that Hawks, or Pies, or Swans, or Brisbane, would know exactly what to do. And they would have rehearsed it again and again in training, so every single one of them would know exactly want to do.
None of these coaches would want to rely on pure luck. They would want to control as much as possible, whether they were ahead of behind, in attack or defence.
Come to think of it, a centre bounce with less than a minute of time left would have been a great opportunity for our leadership group to make sure everyone was switched on and ready to play out our “end of a close game” strategy.
Except we don’t have one.
And see where the umpire is positioned. If he’s watching the play, Drew and JHF are in his direct line of vision and just a few metres away, clearly being illegally held. He’s seen obvious frees, but chosen not to pay them.
Not to embrace a Hinkleyism, but its actually a great opportunity for learning.Another thing watching the last 5 minutes is that we didn't obviously look like we had a plan to kill the ball but the whole entire passage from Rankine kicking the ball into the forward line, two Crows taking massive jumps, the Crows player at the top of the 50 and the winger ready to kick the goal all seemed very rehearsed.
The problem with Hinkley is that he wouldn’t learn. Not to embrace a Hinkleyism, but its actually a great opportunity for learning.
Not sure it's a brain fade. These type of things happen too often with our ruckmen. Long for the smarts of a Lade or Primus. Brogan played smarter & he was a basketballer.Wines and Drew would have known and they were in there. Especially Wines... Makes no sense. And they were set up in a way to cause stoppage. Just a brain fade by Sweet I think at the end of the day.. Big one too.

Not just that, but after the 2021 PF debacle, he wouldn't have changed a thing. The problem with Hinkley is that he wouldn’t learn.
Unless you're Angus Monfries.Butters kick bounces 1m higher and we're talking about a different result.
Sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce your way.

Did he learn or was it just part of his nature. He learnt how to survive pretty well
Have you seen our outs?
