That game confirm for me that our fitness levels are stuffed; we were the best team for 3 quarters, last quarter, we had absolutely nothing left in the tank.
Training the **** out of them in the pre season really worked a charm didn't it?

When someone says in that whiny voice "Oh but we played better than in the previous 5 rounds. We're improving!" I will be strongly urged to hurl a virtual brick at said person.

This game was ours for the taking, we had Tippett and Porpoise finding something. Pizza Boy was playing impressively, as were a lot of our other young brigade. You'd think with so many firing we'd grab the 4 points ... appear not.

Exactly, that sort of thinking is how pathetic nothing teams like melbourne/richmond have sustained themselves over the years. That last quarter was flat out unacceptable and to my mind eliminates any positives that might have otherwise come out of this game.

We were absolutely in that game, we had every chance of winning. Yet after 3 quarter time all the endeavor, all the effort, everything stopped. To do that when they should've been giving their absolute all to actually win a god damn game was just disgusting.

Hard to train injured or restricted players mate.

Our effort in the last wasn't acceptable, but we clearly don't have the fitness to run out games at present, this season is a write off.

We're really going to have to have a brilliant 2011 to make up for this garbage season.

You say that but how can it be such a contrast from the 3rd term. We seemed to run out the 3rd quite well but come out flat footed and disinterested in the 4th. It wasn't fitness, it was endeavour and the will to win the game. The blokes in the middle, VB, Thompson, Edwards, Vince all just stopped. Was a terrible showing and has cost us the season completely.

Watched up until 3 quarter time and You lot were right in the game ..i guess they must have run out of legs in the last.

Some positives were Tippet, Porps, etc are starting to get their hands on the ball a bit more.

At least we'll finally win next week. There is no chance in hell that we will lose to Richmond.

Craig can no longer justify the continued selection of Burton and Doughty... both have offered bugger all this year. Jaensch played better than Doughty in his first game and can do similar things playing off the half back, but what's the bet Jaensch is the one whose dropped:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Walker must come in, everything Burton can do, Walker can do better... it's not like Burton does that much chasing and tackling either so saying Walker doesn't do enough of that is no longer an excuse. Some of Burton's efforts today were just soft. He cost us at least 1 goal that last quarter.

very disappointing last quarter but clearly Bock wasn't fit and Porps and Tippett only turned up for the first half, which is still a half more than they have been. unfortunately Jaensch and Davis made errors in the 2nd half that cost us 3-4 goals, Bock gave away a couple more. that's the game right there.

apart from 5 minutes at the start of the 4th I felt we were the better side.

a tough loss to swallow but overall better signs than any other match this year, especially considering our injury list and the fact Port were almost at full strength.

Richmond will be coming off a schelacking from Geelong and haven't won a game either. Meanwhile we'll be focused on our really positive first three quarters and how we're obviously moving in the right direction! Of course it's not the gameplan or awful performances from several senior players causing the problems, that sort of talk is just childish barracking from know-nothing supporters.

We're every chance to lose next week.

that first 5 minutes in the last quater and the game was gone, after an armwrestle all day for goals they let 4 or 5 go, and it was game over.

The first game player (jaench?) in defense gave 2 goals up in the 3rd that could have helped us. Scott thompson looks like a has been.
